USMS CONDUCT LARGEST CHILD TRAFFICKING RESCUE OPERATION in U.S. HISTORY: OPERATION DRAGON-EYE. The United States Marshals Service partnered with multiple federal, state, and local government agencies to conduct the most successful missing child recovery operation in U.S. Marshals Service history. This operation had three primary objectives: recover critically missing youth, provide them with essential services including appropriate placement, and deter bad actors exploiting missing child vulnerabilities. In addition to recovering missing children, the operation also arrested eight people with charges that included: human trafficking, child endangerment, narcotics possession, and custodial interference. According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers located 11 missing juveniles and arrested two people, one with human trafficking. "This operation is a powerful example of the importance of collaboration," said Tampa Police Department Chief Lee Bercaw. "These arrests and recoveries serve as a reminder of the Tampa Police Department’s commitment to fight to protect our most vulnerable." In June 2025, Operation Dragon Eye, led by US Marshals and 20 agencies, rescued 60 missing children in Florida, aged 9-17, from trafficking and abuse. ALERT: Fugitive mother arrested months after her children drowned, with traces of cocaine in their blood, while she was sleeping on the couch. Laura Nicholson, 23, was visiting her grandparents with her daughters, 2 and 3, in the west Harris County city of Katy, Texas. When the grandmother returned from the store, the children were unresponsive in the pool, and Laura was asleep on the couch. Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to a call from a woman, who was “screaming hysterically that children have drowned.” During the autopsy, it was revealed that both children had cocaine in their blood, which Laura's mother had accused her of using to CPS.
