The IL-76 cargo aircraft of the Russian Federation landed at Katunayake Airport carrying a relief consignment that includes a mobile power plant and a variety of essential food supplies aimed at assisting communities displaced by the adverse weather. Officials present at the ceremony included Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Levan Dzhagaryan, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Anura Karunathilaka, Deputy Minister of Defence Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.), and Airport and Aviation Chairman Air Chief Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama. The BHISHM trauma cubes are rapid-deployment, durable mobile primary health units equipped with diagnostic tools and compact surgical stations, designed specifically for disaster-response situations.

#OperationSagarBandhu #CycloneDitwah #HADR After successfully launching critical dual carriage way Bailey bridge at Kilinochchi, Jaffna, the Indian Army Engineers have commenced improving site for the construction of a 100 ft Bailey Bridge at KM-21, Kandy, to restore connectivity on B-492 Highway. Major General Rohan Medagoda, GOC 11 Division & Brigadier CD Wikramanayaka, Field Chief Engineer of Sri Lankan Army visited the bridge site, commending the efforts of troops for their assistance to Sri Lanka & the jointmanship displayed by Indian Army Engineers and Sri Lankan Road Development Authority in undertaking this challenging task of bridging. Simultaneously, the Engineer Task Force is also assisting the Sri Lankan Road Development Authorities for undertaking preparatory works for launch of Hybrid Bailey bridge at Chilaw, 60 km North of Colombo. #OperationSagarBandhu #CycloneDitwah #HADR After successfully launching critical dual carriage way Bailey bridge at Kilinochchi, Jaffna, the Indian Army Engineers have commenced improving site for the construction of a 100 ft Bailey Bridge at KM-21, Kandy, to restore connectivity on B-492 Highway. Major General Rohan Medagoda, GOC 11 Division & Brigadier CD Wikramanayaka, Field Chief Engineer of Sri Lankan Army visited the bridge site, commending the efforts of troops for their assistance to Sri Lanka & the jointmanship displayed by Indian Army Engineers and Sri Lankan Road Development Authority in undertaking this challenging task of bridging. Simultaneously, the Engineer Task Force is also assisting the Sri Lankan Road Development Authorities for undertaking preparatory works for launch of Hybrid Bailey bridge at Chilaw, 60 km North of Colombo. In 1984, India's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her sikh bodyguards . That same year, her son Rajiv Gandhi succeeded her as prime minister. The assailant sailor was not happy about a deal the Indian prime minister had brokered the previous night between the Sinhalese Majority and Tamil guerillas. Although Rajiv survived this attempt on his life during the inspection of the guard of honour in Sri-Lanka, in 1991 a 22 year old girl who still held a grudge against India's involvement in Sri-Lankan civil war, sailed from Sri-Lanka to India , where she assassinated Rajiv in a plot deviced by the Tamil. Disguised as a civilian, the lady approached Rajiv Gandhi during an election rally with an explosive device hidden under her clothing. She greeted him, then pretended to bend down to touch his feet as a show of respect and detonated a belt laden with explosives. The assassination led to a diplomatic row between India and Sri-Lanka!!!
