Laser eyed Foreign Minister Jaishankar left flustered. He was asked a question on US sinking an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean. After all the whataboutery he retorted “If you ask me a serious question, I will give you a serious reply.” Anchor: Is this a non serious question that India is the net security provider in the Indian Ocean? The conversation moved on without Jaishankar’s response to another subject! This is how clueless and nervous the Modi govt is.

🚨 Ambassador Kanwal Sibal: 'There is no other navy in the Indian Ocean that can REPLACE a partner like the Indian🇮🇳 Navy' 'There are two things in this. One is that there is no other navy in the Indian Ocean which can replace the range, power and capacity of the Indian Navy. Only the US Navy is present, but it's not present there permanently. The bigger concern for us should be what happened in the Indian Ocean while Iranian sailors where returning after a joint maritime exercise in India. Few days ago, they where in Vizag, today most of them have died & some are rescued by Srilanka. India is not at fault at here but this where our guests & as courtesy, we must atleast make a statement. The action taken by the US in the Indian Ocean was wrong. The ongoing war in the Middle-east cannot be played near our water bodies. Hope GoI realises the consequences it can have if we simply stay to remain silent on this matter.

A Day at Karwar Naval Base! On the occasion of the National Maritime Day, on 05 Apr 25, I had the privilege of witnessing a truly remarkable milestone for India, the #IndianNavy, and the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). From the ambitious strides in building infrastructure and enhancing naval capabilities as well as strengthening the region's economy through Project Seabird to Flagging off INS Sunayna which set sail as the Indian Ocean Ship SAGAR fostering strong bonds of friendship across the Indian Ocean, and carrying out a comprehensive review of the Navy's combat capabilities and future plans. In the true spirit of MAHASAGAR, the Indian Navy continues its exceptional commitment to ensuring maritime security, engaging with IOR nations, and contributing significantly to nation-building. This day is a reminder of how vital our maritime domain is, not just for India's security, but for fostering harmony and growth across the region. SpokespersonNavy

There is a lot of confusion right now about the sinking of the Iranian warship IRIS Dena and the role of the United States submarine in this incident. So let’s understand what most likely happened. First, the attack took place in international waters near Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean. Second, the submarine involved was most likely a US nuclear powered attack submarine already operating somewhere in the Indian Ocean region. Many analysts believe it could have been operating from the broader operational area around Diego Garcia, a strategic military base used by the United States and the United Kingdom in the Indian Ocean. Unlike conventional submarines, nuclear submarines can stay underwater for months, because they do not need to surface for fuel. The only real limitation is food and crew endurance. So the submarine could easily remain in the region, quietly tracking naval movements. Now here is the timing part. The Iranian warship IRIS Dena had recently visited Visakhapatnam in India to participate in a multinational naval event hosted by the Indian Navy. After the exercise ended, the ship left Indian waters and began sailing west toward the Arabian Sea. If the submarine was tracking it, the most logical moment to strike would be after the ship left the exercise area and entered open international waters. That is when the torpedo strike reportedly happened near Sri Lanka. Now the next question people are asking is whether this was legal. Under the law of naval warfare, if two countries are in an armed conflict, a military vessel of the opposing side becomes a legitimate military target. Warships can be attacked even in international waters. In this case, the target was not a civilian vessel. It was a military warship of the Iranian navy. So from a naval warfare perspective, this kind of strike is generally considered permissible during active hostilities.
