The fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal officers in Minneapolis has shocked the world. 37-year old Pretti was a US citizen born in Illinois who grew up in Wisconsin. He was an ICU nurse and had no criminal record. Video evidence appears to show Alex Pretti only holding a phone and not brandishing a gun before he was shot by federal agents. Homeland security claims the agents were acting in self defence when they killed him and Trump’s key advisor has called him a “domestic terrorist.” Meanwhile, the Minnesota Governor has dismissed their allegations as “lies” and Pretti’s parents say they want the “truth” about their son.

So let me just get this straight... Alex Pretti FOUGHT WITH FEDERAL AGENTS a week ago so forcefully, he BROKE A RIB... ...and never was put in prison?!! If he was arrested for committing crimes and thrown in jail, he might still be alive today. Incarceration saves lives.

Videos show 37-year-old Alex Pretti confronting federal immigration officers on a Minneapolis street 11 days before he was fatally shot in another encounter with Customs and Border Protection agents. A representative of Pretti's family said they knew about the incident and that he sustained injuries, but did not receive medical care. He's seen kicking and damaging the taillight of a government SUV. The vehicle then stops, and federal agents emerge and tackle him to the ground. Later in the video, officers deploy chemical irritants in the street as a number of other people shout, honk their horns or stand around filming the scene on their phones. Pretti was wearing very similar clothing in footage from Saturday, Jan. 24, the day he was shot and killed.

Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse at the VA. His parents said he was “a kindhearted soul.” He was shot and killed by federal agents while trying to help a woman next to him who had been shoved to the ground. Our eyes don’t lie—Americans see what happened.

Protesters in Minneapolis marched against ICE presence in the state Sunday, one day after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by a federal agent. Pretti’s killing occurred less than three weeks after Renee Good, another Minneapolis resident and U.S. citizen, was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer. A total of 3,000 ICE and Customs and Border Protection agents are now operating in the city, a force that is roughly five times the size of the Minneapolis Police Department, which has about 600 officers. A top ICE official said Sunday that federal agents had carried out roughly 3,400 arrests in the area, though he did not say how many arrestees had criminal records.
