A viral video showed him boasting about destroying Hindu temples.Following this, CID and other agencies placed Sylom NGO under surveillance. Purchase & Misuse of NGOs: To escape scrutiny, Praveen purchased multiple pre-approved FCRA NGOs and replaced their trustees with his own benami individuals. Example: Action in Distress (purchased in 2021) had its original trustees are replaced by his Benamis, who are used for diversion of funds. Foreign Funding Misuse: Since then, he has systematically diverted foreign donations through these NGOs, fabricating social welfare projects while using the funds for religious conversions and personal luxury. Do you know the reality of Sonam Wangchuk. The Home Ministry had cancelled the FCRA licence of the NGO run by Sonam Wangchuk, called SECMOL, which was receiving funds from mainly USA and China. Despite this, SECMOL continued to receive funds through foreign entities through hidden pathways, cards, and unauthorized networks. Amit Shah brought new rules for FCRA in June 2026. Immediately after the new rules of FCRA were imposed, Sonam Wangchuk joined the CJP protest on a hunger strike on June 28, 2026. Connect the dots. Sonam Wangchuk, who is credited for creating vertical, cone shaped ice towers, (Ice Stupas) for which he won the Rolex Awards for Enterprise in 2016, essentially copied the ice stupa concept from Chewang Norphel, another Ladakhi. Chewang Norphel was the first to invent the concept of making artificial glaciers, ice stupas and providing water to Ladakh & by 2012, he had made 12 such glaciers with the total cost of only 90,000 rupees. For this work, Norfil won the Jamnalal Bajaj award for Application of Science and Technology for Rural Development for constructing these ice stupas in 2010. Do you know the reality of Sonam Wangchuk. The Home Ministry had cancelled the FCRA licence of the NGO run by Sonam Wangchuk, called SECMOL, which was receiving funds from mainly USA and China. Despite this, SECMOL continued to receive funds through foreign entities through hidden pathways, cards, and unauthorized networks. Amit Shah brought new rules for FCRA in June 2026. Immediately after the new rules of FCRA were imposed, Sonam Wangchuk joined the CJP protest on a hunger strike on June 28, 2026. Connect the dots. Sonam Wangchuk, who is credited for creating vertical, cone shaped ice towers, (Ice Stupas) for which he won the Rolex Awards for Enterprise in 2016, essentially copied the ice stupa concept from Chewang Norphel, another Ladakhi. Chewang Norphel was the first to invent the concept of making artificial glaciers, ice stupas and providing water to Ladakh & by 2012, he had made 12 such glaciers with the total cost of only 90,000 rupees. For this work, Norfil won the Jamnalal Bajaj award for Application of Science and Technology for Rural Development for constructing these ice stupas in 2010. A Congressman from Donald Trump’s Republican Party has called India’s proposed FCRA Amendment Bill a “clear attack on Christians” and claimed it could allow the government to take control of churches and religious charities. But the Bill does not target Christians or churches specifically. It applies to all organisations receiving foreign contributions. In 2019, Yair Netanyahu openly referred to countries funding NGOs that campaign against each other’s political and territorial interests. That statement showed why foreign funding cannot always be treated as neutral charity. NGOs can also become instruments of influence. The proposed FCRA framework seeks to ensure that the original foreign donor is disclosed, funds are used only for the approved purpose and region, further instalments are linked to verified utilisation, and assets created through foreign money remain accountable even after an organisation loses its FCRA registration. One concern is genuinely debatable. If an asset is built partly with foreign funds and partly with Indian funds, the authority may initially take control of the entire asset, after which the organisation must establish the domestically funded portion. Foreign funding is not automatically wrong. But transparency, accountability and national oversight are essential.
