Time to start reengineering these cities to handle more water. They’re just going to get more densely populated and these kind of storms will happen again.

Arizona too and Pennsylvania too! A flash flood warning was issued for Friday evening in the Antelope Creek basin located in Coconino County after thunderstorms were expected to drop nearly an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service. The warning was set until 5 p.m. Arizona time. Locations under the warning included Upper Antelope Canyon, Lower Antelope Canyon, Owl Canyon, Rattlesnake Canyon, Ramshead Canyon and Porcupine Canyon, and all slot canyons, creeks, washes, and rivers in the surrounding area. The weather service said residents in the area needed to evacuate immediately as the flash floods could prove to be deadly. Heavy rain in the area was expected to bring anywhere from 0.25 to 0.75 of an inch of rain, the weather service said. On Friday at 8:12 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning in effect until 9:45 p.m. for Lackawanna and Luzerne counties. "At 8:12 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," comments the weather service. "Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas."Locations impacted by the warning include Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Pittston, Dunmore, Old Forge, Moosic, Edwardsville, Luzerne, Harveys Lake, West Wyoming, Moscow, Elmhurst, Glendale, Sweet Valley, Mount Cobb, Kingston, Plains, Taylor, Plymouth and Exeter. The weather service states, "Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads."
