Last night, The Senate voted (77-19) to advance a bipartisan short-term funding measure (CR) to avoid a government shutdown at the end of the week. This morning, Speaker McCarthy said that the Senate CR is dead on arrival. Why? Because it includes some money for Ukraine, which MTG and other pro-Putin extremists in his party refuse to back. McCarthy could do the right thing and support the Senate CR since at least 70% of House Republicans support funding for Ukraine, but he's terrified of Matt Gaetz, MTG, and Donald Trump. He gave these extremists the power, and now they totally control him. Even Mitch McConnell slams McCarthy and House Republicans for their insistence to shut down the government: "A vote against a standard short-term funding measure is a vote against paying over $1 billion in salary for Border Patrol and ICE agents working to track down lethal fentanyl and tame our open borders.”

Now there is an ironic idea that is being floated in which Democrats will team with Republicans to elect a new Speaker of the House, and that Speaker of the House would be none other than Liz Cheney. I don't see it happening. Do you?

We should have separate single-subject spending bills. Kevin McCarthy promised that in January. He is in breach of that promise. I'm not here to hold the government hostage.
