Home health care workers deserve dignity and fair pay. But the Dept. of Labor is planning to strip minimum wage and overtime protections from home health care workers who care for more than 9 million seniors and people with disabilities across our country. I’m fighting to protect the 13,000 Nevada workers who keep our seniors and individuals with disabilities safe at home. I joined a letter opposing this reckless rollback to defend the workers who support some of our most vulnerable friends and neighbors.

I appreciate this response from Mamdani, as it makes clear that no one should vote for him or rank him in the upcoming NYC mayoral election; not if you care about workers rights and/or medical freedom. Mamdani had been dodging us on this issue for months, as we had posted on X two weeks ago. Today he stated he stands by “the necessity of upholding that public health mandate” even though today the mandate has been completely discredited. Every education district in New York state had a testing option for workers in lieu of vaccination with only one exception - NYC. There were dozens (if not hundreds) of NYPD employees allowed to stay on the job in NYC unvaccinated who were allowed to test in lieu of vaccination. So why not teachers? Kitchen workers? Firefighters? Sanitation workers? I greatly thank Zhoran Mamdani for stating clearly, on the record, that he stands in opposition to all unvaccinated people. Yesterday I spoke in Parliament on the hypocrisy of plantation companies refusing to pay the Fairtrade Intl recommended and Wages Board Gazetted living wage for estate workers when they are making Rs. billions in profits. The myth that the tea industry can only survive on paying workers a wage that keeps them below the poverty line, is disproven by the latest published accounts of these companies. It’s time for plantation companies to accept their social and legal responsibilities and pay their workers decent wages and if not, sell up to companies who can actually do the job. Jojo, who uploaded several videos from the day of the arson confirming they made it out safely, alleges in one of the video captions that the suspect, Chamel Abdulkarim, routinely showed up 1 to 2 hours late, frequently asked for voluntary time off, and often called out. She also says workers were earning $22 an hour but, because of the arson, are now being transferred to a lower-paying warehouse. In the comments, another worker claimed Abdulkarim was making $27 an hour. As of 2026, the minimum wage in California is $16.90 per hour for most workers statewide.
