Since we’re not being given much information about Senator Mitch McConnell’s health, I started digging into the Secretary of the Senate’s reports and reviewing his travel since the last semiannual reporting period, covering October 2025 through March 31, 2026, to get a better picture of his condition. From what I can tell, McConnell hasn’t traveled back to Kentucky in quite some time. The fact that he appears to have remained in Washington, D.C., rather than returning home, is another indicator to me that he may not even be capable of getting on a plane and making the trip back to Kentucky. That makes me increasingly doubtful that he’ll be returning to the Senate in September.

My opinion is that the officers assigned to his detail may not actually know his medical condition. If Senator McConnell is being treated in a specialized unit or private suite, it’s possible the detail is simply securing the area without direct visibility into what is happening inside or his day-to-day care.
