We are building EigenDA to the premium out-of-protocol DA layer on Ethereum, and it offers the following unique features: ------------ High Throughput: EigenDA is the ONLY fully horizontally scalable system in all of crypto. What does horizontal scaling mean? More nodes directly imply more throughput. In all other systems, decentralization is a roadblock to scaling. In EigenDA, decentralization IS scaling. Right now EigenDA has 15 MB/s throughput, order of magnitude more than other DA. ------------ Strong Trust Model: EigenDA uses dual staking of ETH and EIGEN, where EIGEN stakers can be forked for data availability - this is a breakthrough feature for an ERC20. This trust model is similar to any other data availability chain where if data is unavailable stakers can be forked via chain forking. Furthermore, EigenDA is built on KZG commitments rather than fraud proofs, making it possible to instantly verify correctness of coding. ------------ Low node requirements: The minimum node requirement for participation as EigenDA validator is 0.5MB/s. If you have more stake delegated to your node, you need linearly more node bandwidth. Other systems require 100+MB/s. ------------ Custom quorum: EigenDA allows rollups to easily add their own token quorum so that DA commitments are validated by both the default EigenDA quorum and any custom quorum. This feature is not available anywhere else. ------------ Reserved bandwidth: Rollups on EigenDA can have a reserved chunk of throughput which there will be no conflict with. Bored Apes does their drop and your app gets congested - **no more**. This feature is not available in any other crypto system. ------------

Roadmap ------------ In building a complex product like EigenDA, we cannot build all features simultaneously so we have prioritized unprecedented throughput and horizontal scaling to be the first core feature to ship. The architecture of EigenDA is designed to be forward compatible with a rich roadmap incorporating many breakthrough features. ------------ DAS for verifiability: EigenDA uses KZG polynomial coding and is therefore fully compatible with data availability sampling (similar to Danksharding). DAS is on the roadmap next to promote verifiability. We note that, DAS can be built permissionlessly by anyone (=anyone can build a light node). We instead prioritized scaling to build the world’s first fully horizontally scaled system - this cannot be done permissionlessly. DAS is coming up on the roadmap. ------------ Economics: EigenDA currently has a free tier with bandwidth cap and whitelisted higher tiers. We are introducing the full EigenDA economics in the upcoming release including pay-per-blob and reserved bandwidth - so that everything is fully permissionless. ------------ Permissionless Disperser: EigenDA currently has a single permissioned disperser to send the data to the EigenDA nodes (which is a liveness bottleneck not a safety bottleneck). This is necessary because rate limits right now without payments. Once permissionless payments goes live, the next step is to make the disperser permissionless. Once permissionless disperser goes live, any rollup sequencer can run its own disperser. ------------ Improved trust models. Right now, the trust model only allows economic security for EigenDA. We are not satisfied with this model - we need systems that are secure as long as Ethereum is secure. We have some research breakthroughs in this direction coming up.

This is incredible! Few questions: 1. Could you please elaborate on how DAS would work when each node only holds a chunk of the data? Do light clients sample chunks from multiple nodes? 2. One thing I couldn't find in the docs is the Data lifetime - how long are the nodes required to store the data? Is that something rollups can pre-define? 3. What bottleneck caps the throughput at 15 MB/s currently?

EthLabs Co-founder Ansgar Dietrichs on why Ethereum must be the central node of the on-chain global economy “When we say the global economy is coming on-chain, I believe there are two very different ways that can play out. What I see as the default is you have this world of all these different, independent chains [with different use cases] and then you tie them all together with brittle links. Over time you try to derisk these links, but we’ve seen this multiple times in the past — bridges keep failing. Bridges between independent chains can only ever be so secure/robust because ultimately these chains don’t have a shared state.” Ansgar continues: “The alternative outcome is one where the global economy has one central node — that doesn’t mean that all the activity is on that node or Ethereum L1, but it means that there’s one central node that everything links back into. We are in a fundamentally better state for the world, when all these different parts of the economy can talk to each other trustlessly and without friction. And we really believe that it’s only Ethereum that can play that role. There is no second-best, neutral chain that actually has a shot at this. But that doesn’t mean it’s inevitable. We could just end up in the worse world.” This is why EthLabs is focused on, as Ansgar puts it, “talking to the builders in Ethereum, figuring out what are the friction points — especially as we build toward bringing finance and these economic flows on-chain — and iteratively removing them and strengthening Ethereum.”

Johann Kerbrat on why Robinhood is building its own L2 on Ethereum At Consensus Hong Kong in February 2026, Robinhood launched a public testnet for Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 built with Arbitrum. Following six months of private testing, Robinhood plans to launch the mainnet in 2026 and will migrate tokenized US stocks and ETFs currently offered to EU customers on Arbitrum One to its own dedicated Arbitrum-powered L2 that still settles on Ethereum. Coinbase has adopted a similar strategy with its plans to take full control over Base’s tech stack and advance the L2 toward Stage 2 decentralization. Robinhood Head of Crypto Johann Kerbrat explains the rationale behind building an L2: “We can still get the security and liquidity of Ethereum, benefit from all of the work that the Arbitrum team has done, and on top of that, customize [the chain] every time we want to build something.” He continues: “If we want to give people access to all of the tools and elements of traditional finance, we also need flexibility [to comply with] what regulators are asking us to do. A world where you have full privacy and you can do whatever you want without KYC and trade securities is still a bit far for us. But what we are trying to find is a good middle ground. You will be on a permissionless chain. You will be able to interact with DeFi and do a lot of things with your stock tokens. We think it’s a great compromise.” Galaxy Head of Research Alex Thorn points out that you can embed a lot of compliance controls at the application and token layers on top of Ethereum. Tomorrow, we publish a new The Edge Podcast with Robinhood GM of Crypto, Johann Kerbrat. This clip might be the clearest articulation I’ve ever heard on why Ethereum's roadmap is working, and why Robinhood chose to build its own L2 using Arbitrum. + Ethereum offers security, with proven decentralization + New L1s = centralized databases + EVM liquidity is essential for tokenized stocks & RWAs + Arbitrum’s tech stack wins on engineering merit No edits. No spin. Just a major U.S. fintech explaining why they’re building the future of finance on Ethereum. Real validation for those of us who are long term Ethereum/ETH investors. Here is the clip and transcript for Johann answering why Robinhood chose to build its own Ethereum L2: "You see a lot of companies right now building their own L1. And for us, we felt excited about this idea where we can control anything that we want to build and we don't have to deal with any other chain to talk to or anything like that. But at the same time, creating the security of a real proper decentralized chain is extremely difficult, as you know. And we basically get that for free with Ethereum. The network has been going on for a very long time now and the security is stable and it's decentralized. And I think that's really the key two points that we wanted to have. When you look at some of these new L1s that are being created, it's not really decentralized and it's not really secure. So at the end of the day, you're basically having like a... fancy database that is probably a bit slower to use than an actual database. And so we didn't really see the value in that. With Ethereum, we get the security by default. The second thing that we get by having an L2 is that you get all this liquidity that is already part of all the EVM compatible chains. And that was also a very important decision factor for us. If we really want to bring the stock market onto the chain, we need to have this liquidity. It's not going to be possible if it's in a closed loop or in a closed chain that nobody can access and you need to have like 20 different hoops before you can bridge to that chain. So for us, that was kind of the two elements that we really wanted to focus on and that's why we decided on building on Ethereum. And then we decided on Arbitrum mostly because we love the technology. There's a few things that we are excited about. For example, Stylus. It's a way that we can basically use different language into the chain and we can build on top of that. We also like the way that they prioritize transactions that is, we think, a better way than some of the competition. And so basically we'll use the Arbitrum stack and we'll create our own L2, which will make us also compatible with all the Arbitrum chains. And so we think it's kind of the best of all the worlds. But for us, the idea is like we will start with public stock, and then we think that we can tokenize anything really, not just stocks. It can be private stock, it can be art, it can be real estate, whatever you want to think of. And so we really wanted to have a platform that is kind of easy to build on and we can keep adding on it. At the same time, we know that regulation are going to be hard on some of these products, especially when it comes to financial products. You always have different regulators. You have different rules depending on the region. If you're in the EU versus the US versus LATAM. And so we felt like we wanted to have our own layer that we could customize for these needs. And then anyone that is building on the chain will also be able to benefit from what we are building, versus just putting everything in a contract that will be just good for the people that are using the Robinhood contracts. But so at this point, we announced the chain in June. We are in private test right now, and then we'll do more announcements in the future."
