First, a protester disrupted Mike Jackson, a leader in Microsoft's office of Responsible AI, from giving his presentation, calling out the hypocrisy of highlighting Microsoft's ethics while Microsoft is actively powering the genocide in Gaza.

Protesters then took over the stage, chanting, waving Palestinian flags, unfurling banners reading "IRRESPONSIBLE AI FOR GENOCIDE" and "ISRAEL OFF AZURE", and SHUTTING DOWN Microsoft's keynote as attendees were forced out of the auditorium.

We refused to relent and followed the crowd outside, delivering a speech that reiterated Microsoft's role as the technological backbone of Israel's apartheid and genocide.

Once our protestors were escorted out of the atrium, they continued to rally outside the building for another hour. At the same time, we launched a sound disruption inside the atrium by releasing a birdie noisemaker attached to helium balloons which echoed throughout the venue.

In addition, we successfully prevented Teresa Hutson, leader of Microsoft's Trusted Technology Group at Microsoft, from speaking at the conference, forcing her to leave the venue after creating a significant disruption.

At the end, a protester disrupted SeattleU's president to call out that while the university is hosting an event to whitewash Microsoft's role in the genocide, Microsoft technology played an active role in destroying all the universities in Gaza.

Make no mistake: Today's Microsoft-sponsored ""AI ethics"" conference is nothing but a failed attempt by Microsoft to whitewash its undeniable role in Israel's genocide in Gaza. There's no ethical way to do business with an entity committing genocide on a daily basis!

⚡️ BREAKING: Microsoft employees and other demonstrators with the No Azure for Apartheid movement are currently occupying the office of company president Brad Smith. Workers say they have re-established a “Liberated Zone” inside Microsoft’s executive Building 34, renaming it the Mai Ubeid Building in honor of a Palestinian software engineer killed in an Israeli airstrike. Bloomberg reported earlier today that Microsoft has spent the past year trying to crush employee dissent over its ties to Israel’s war on Gaza — including enlisting the FBI, working with police, and censoring internal posts mentioning “Gaza.” The company has suspended and fired workers who spoke out, while employees have continued to stage disruptions, from mass emails to sit-ins and viral protests. The employee-led movement is protesting Microsoft profiting from and enabling Israel’s atrocities in Palestine through its Azure cloud and AI tools. Despite repression, workers say they won’t stop until Microsoft cuts its ties to Israel’s military. According to the organizers’ statement, today’s action included deploying noisemakers into the atrium, unfurling banners, and delivering a “People’s Court Summons” to Brad Smith. Their demands include: cutting ties with Israel, calling for an end to genocide and forced starvation, reparations for Palestinians, and ending workplace discrimination. Video shows the demonstrators in the Microsoft C-suite reading their statement. Shared on Twitch (link in reply).
