o3-Alpha 🆚 Kingfall o3-Alpha is OpenAI’s most capable coding model yet, on par with the best from Anthropic and Google. The level of detail and functionality it adds to even very simple prompts is impressive. It’s hard to believe that o3-Alpha is just a new checkpoint for o3, considering the jump in performance.

Gemini-2.5-Pro-preview-05-06 is now my top coding model. It beats o3 and Claude 3.7 Sonnet on several of my hard prompts. One example prompt: "Code simulation of water in a bucket that is rocking back and forth." See how it crushes o3 and Sonnet. Google, call it Gemini 3!

The LM Arena source and the “anonymous-chatbot-0717” tag reads o3 alpha responses 2025 07 17. O3 Alpha is live in stealth. I have a suspicion that it’s the same model that snatched second in the coding comp, It’s one-shotting every task. Doubt it is the incoming ChatGPT agent; if it were, I feel as if OpenAI would be parading full coding benchmark flexes by now. Just look at this thing one shot a Minecraft replica 👇

I've long said that o3 is the best coding model - but if you're using an agent harness - Claude is just better at navigating your codebase. Enter the Repo Prompt pair programmer mode - it's the best of both words, as Claude coordinates with o3 to plan and apply edits for you!

RouteLLM is insanely good at picking the right model based on the context of the query. One of my favorite features of ChatLLM, it understands the query and routes perfectly: - o3 for complex. - GPT-4.1 for normal query. - 3.7 / Gemini 2.5 Pro for coding. Absolutely brilliant!

OpenAI are testing a new model on the Web Dev Arena Arena under the name 'Anonymous Chatbot 0717'. I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but it is genuinely at a completely different level of front end coding - far better than Sonnet, o3, Gemini 2.5 Pro, or Grok 4. To test it, I ran a great prompt borrowed from the amazing The Feature Crew YouTube channel, asking models to create a procedurally generated planet with Three.js. Take a look yourselves, but I'm pretty astonished by how big the jump is. I have featured the new model twice just because its implementations have been so interesting. Of course, this is only one test, but OpenAI models have always been a bit 'meh' at front-end work, and they seem to have finally overtaken everyone else on that front. We'll see when it comes out. Credit to Chetaslua for discovering the model
