Smith adds it will require an additional $50 billion a year to run such a government. The Premier also says Alberta would have to renegotiate all trade deals, including agreements under USMCA. Danielle warns a new Republic would likely face immediate new tariffs or higher tariffs on Alberta goods, currently under Canadian trade deals.
