It is left for Rivers people to do the needful. Those 27 "ex-lawmakers" have homes. They have family members, they eat food, they drink water, they sleep at night and they're not more important than the millions of affected Rivers people.

12/03/2025 Your Excellency, Governor Siminalayi Fubara @SimFubaraKSC The peace and stability of Rivers State must never be compromised. The 24 legislators attempting to ignite discord should be handled decisively, yet lawfully. You are the duly elected leader of this state, and under no circumstances should you allow anyone to bully you or drag Rivers state into chaos. Tonight, it is imperative that the gate they have barricaded your re-presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill be removed. That space should immediately be repurposed—either as a temporary refuse site to maintain environmental order or as a primary health center to serve the people. The citizens of Rivers deserve development, not political theatrics. To prevent further disruptions, relocate these 24 legislators to secure and quiet hotels, dispersed across different locations in the state. Their role is to legislate, not to incite disorder. If they are truly committed to governance, they will perform their duties regardless of location. Simultaneously, a formal letter should be dispatched to the Supreme Court, confirming your commitment to obey its directive by re-presenting the 2025 Appropriation Bill. However, document clearly that when you attempted to do so, the legislators themselves locked the gate and refused to convene. Let it be known that you remain compliant with the law while they obstruct governance. Finally, refute—firmly and unequivocally—the false narrative that the Rivers State Assembly Complex was demolished to prevent sittings. The truth remains that an explosion rendered the structure unsafe, and to protect lives, it was removed. This was an act of responsibility, not political maneuvering. Your Excellency, stand strong. The people of Rivers stand with you. The state’s progress must never be held hostage by a few. Yours sincerely, Preacher Writing from a construction site in Newport

Is it only the Rivers State Governor that should obey the judgement of the Supreme court? What's there to do for the legislature in the judgement? It seems like a judgement that is paid for by a party...

Why did Fubara allow the lawbreakers access to the assembly knowing fully well that the supreme court did Wike’s bidding in that ruling?

VIDEO: Wike Hosts Suspended Rivers Lawmakers in UK The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, hosted suspended Rivers assembly lawmakers in the United Kingdom on Monday. The minister's Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, in a post on on Tuesday said the lawmakers, who are in the UK for "legislative capacity building”, were hosted to a dinner by the minister. He wrote, "Yesterday, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, hosted Rivers State House of Assembly members who are in the United Kingdom for Legislative Capacity Building, to a dinner. "Wike left Nigeria on Sunday night after visiting his political friends and associates in Port Harcourt, Rivers State." PUNCH Online reported on Sunday that the suspended Rivers lawmakers, led by the Speaker, Martins Amaewhule, departed Nigeria for a tour in the United Kingdom. Amaewhule was said to have declared open the 10th Rivers Assembly Legislative Tour of the United Kingdom on Friday. He claimed that the legislative tour would allow the House to learn new things outside the shores of Nigeria, which would improve the capacity of members for the tasks ahead. Recall that on March 18, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State and suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor, Prof Ngozi Odu and members of the state House of Assembly. He also appointed a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), as sole administrator for an initial period of six months. The development came amid the political crisis in the state stemming from the power struggle between Fubara and his predecessor, Wike. Credit: X| Lere Olayinka
