It is completely unacceptable that a country of over 200 million people generates and distributes only about 4,000 megawatts of electricity while millions of Nigerians still lack access to reliable power. Countries like South Africa and Egypt, despite having significantly smaller populations, each generate and distribute over 40,000 megawatts. Nigeria is not even producing one-tenth of what those countries generate, and that must change. We will also tackle unemployment through honest and transparent policies by supporting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses with tax incentives, financial support, and access to affordable credit so they can grow, create jobs, and drive economic development. BREAKING.... 2027 POLLS: OBIDIENT MOVEMENT REBRANDS, SACKS PETER OBI, YUNUSA Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Nigerian political space came under more tension on Thursday with the immediate disbandment of the #Obidient Movement and expulsion of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi; one his disciples, Yunusa Tanko and all other persons appointed under the unauthorised leadership structure that emerged after the 2023 elections. Those behind the sacking premised the decision on political prostitution and its misuse for personal advantage and private gains. Consequently, the organisation has been rebranded to the #OBEDIENT Movement, to disengage it from Obi and his loyalists. Several calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages to Obi and Yunusa were not replied. Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja to unveil the organisation, the International Coordinator of the #OBEDIENT Movement, Dr Barry Avotu Johnson, clarified that it has not yet adopted any presidential candidate for 2027 and has ceased to have any dealings with Labour Party. According to him, the rebranding was necessary because after the 2023 elections, the original vision and founding ideals of the #Obidient Movement were no longer adequately represented by those who assumed control of its structure.

Kwankwaso is Working for Tinubu in 2027, Partnership with Obi Temporary - Bature The NNPP is no longer a formidable platform for 2027. There was an agreement among critical stakeholders, including Rabiu Kwankwaso, to find a lasting solution ahead of 2027 because the NNPP cannot fly on its own. With Kwankwaso’s consent, we approached Tinubu and the APC as our Option A to explore joining the party. Kwankwaso insisted on speaking to President Tinubu before any possible defection. However, after a date was set, he cancelled the appointment, saying he was going to China, and never rescheduled. A Peter Obi-Kwankwaso ticket in Kano is strange. 2027 PRESIDENCY: ROWDY SCENE AS ATIKU RETURNS FORM There was commotion on Thursday at the national secretariat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja as former President Atiku Abubakar submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest the Presidential election in 2027. Atiku's loyalists and supporters arrived the ADC secretariat earlier and made desperate moves to enter the Hall. They overpowered the fierce-looking bouncers and security personnel and, in the process, destroyed the doors of the room. This paved way for them and they rushed in like a swarm of bees pushing away journalists and other guests. Efforts by journalists to speak with Atiku proved unsuccessful even after laying ambush for him. He was said to have left through the underground basement leaving journalists stranded and disappointed.

The issue of how the party was registered remains unresolved. I also met with Kwankwaso and raised the same concerns with him. Despite that, both of them joined the party. Their move has not changed anything — the situation is still as bad as it was. I have no motive other than to stop what I believe is a national fraud. Sections 63, 138 of Electoral Act Dangerous Will Sabotage Voting at Polling Level - Igini Section 63 of the 2026 Electoral Act has reintroduced something very dangerous: a ballot paper used for the 2027 election that does not bear INEC’s official manufacturer and security features may be accepted by the presiding officer. By implication, the presiding officer has been given the discretion to accept ballot papers notwithstanding the absence of the official mark, and to count such ballot papers.
