During the last 17 months since the change of government, Bangladesh is facing serious human rights violations, extrajudicial killings, kidnappings, torture, corruption, looting and it exceeded all past records. It’s irony that a supporter of the past government was killed by hitting him with rocks and a Hindu worker was put on fire alive and was killed like medieval times. But the government abdicated itself of its responsibility to protect them. Bangladesh media has been silenced and people are afraid of jihadi mob attacks. Thousands of houses, businesses and land have been vandalized and taken over by jihadis while government remain indifferent. Indifference of International agencies to these crimes could be complicity.

This call is absolutely timely. Standing up to authoritarianism and defending human rights is not only a responsibility of today, but also of future generations. World Report 2026 will play a vital role in documenting the truth and keeping collective memory alive against impunity
