He says- "It will be a stadium with more capacity and located in a place where the crowd can disperse in 20 minutes and match can be viewed very well from any place on the stands. But no matter how big the new stadium is, it can never match the stature of Wankhede Stadium, where cricket will always be celebrated. We did something no other region or stadium has ever done: we hosted a Super Bowl and a World Cup in the same calendar year — and pulled off both to resounding success. Let that sink in. Over the past three weeks, our team hosted six FIFA World Cup matches, capped tonight by a thrilling USA victory. Because people genuinely still don't understand how long it takes to develop major features and entire new game modes: Gavin Winter (Senior Systems Designer OW) on Emongg's stream mentioned that there's been a whole separate team dedicated to making the new Stadium mode for "a lot of the time" Gavin has been at Blizzard. For context, Gavin has been at Blizzard for nearly 4 years. He also mentions that gameplay engineers have been working on Stadium "for the past few years". Stadium having been worked on for 3 years lines up with the timeline of Hero Missions being publicly announced to be cancelled in May 16th 2023, with strong rumours that indicate Hero Missions were internally scrapped at least a year before that. Meaning that if developers were reassigned from Hero Missions to Stadium in early 2022; it has now been 3 years almost exactly to the day - lining up with the timeline Gavin alluded to in his comments. People also need to remember it's been nearly a year and a half since the Diablo collaboration when we first got to see some of the early testing of perks/skill trees in gameplay publicly. We just didn't know what project we were publicly testing for until now. It makes sense to reassign developers and convert the work done on PvE into something more in line with the true direction of OW which is PvP game play. Stadium is the result of that, taking the best parts from the old Hero Missions project and transforming it into something else that works better for the current game. All of this to say; development doesn't happen in 2 months. To the dismay of the far too many people that somehow think it does.

I’ve done this for a couple years now. I’ve been to the Finals, the WCF twice. Continuity was there. I’ve been around teams that have been sold; so I’ve seen everything. When I’ve come to work each day, I’ve never complained. I try to find a way to win, I love winning. Losing sucks, but it’s hard to win in this league. Just understanding and going through the process, I believe that I can help us get to the finish line and that’s to win a championship.”

Las Vegas A’s Stadium Financing Update: While ironwork continues to rise at the Las Vegas A’s stadium site, there’s also a major development surrounding the Fisher family itself. Doris Fisher, co-founder of Gap and the matriarch of the Fisher family, passed away on May 2, 2026, at age 94. Her son, John Fisher, remains the controlling owner of the A’s. At this point, I have not seen any official reporting that directly connects Doris Fisher’s estate to stadium financing. What is confirmed is that the stadium financing picture has become much clearer. The current plan for the roughly $2 billion ballpark calls for about $1.1 billion in Fisher equity, a $300 million construction loan backed by U.S. Bank and Goldman Sachs, and up to $380 million in public funding, with the A’s previously indicating they expect to use about $350 million of that public money. That means the Fisher side of the financing package now represents roughly $1.4 billion between family equity and the private construction loan, even as questions remain about exactly when the team will tap the loan and public funding. The A’s said in February that they had already spent about $300 million on stadium construction, funded through Fisher equity, while work on the Strip site continues to push higher every week. So, two things can be true at once: the passing of Doris Fisher is a significant family development, and the stadium itself is no longer just a rendering or political promise — the iron is going up, hundreds of millions have already been spent, and the financing framework now shows a project moving deeper into reality.

The Philadelphia 76ers are financing the $1.3 billion project with no city funds - an unprecedented approach among our local sports facilities. 76 Place will create over a thousand construction and operations jobs. The deal includes a $50 million Community Benefits Agreement and an historic Economic Opportunity Plan. The project is expected to generate over $700 million in new tax revenues for the City and School District. Let me be clear: the arena is not being built in Chinatown proper and no buildings in this historic community are being demolished. Between the numerous commitments in the agreement to expanding economic opportunity, investing in our young people, and supporting adjacent communities, this is the right deal in my view for the City, our residents, and our neighborhoods.
