The bridge... is stuck open due to overheating as most of the metal on the 120-year-old structure has swollen from the high temperatures, which reached 90 degrees on Monday. Neither end of the bridge is in the correct position, preventing alignment with the locking mechanism that allows vehicle traffic to cross. Crews on boats have spent hours spraying water onto the bridge to cool the metal so they can realign it with the road deck. The bridge has caused major traffic jams during the evening commute, and there is currently no word on when it will reopen to traffic.show more

Meanwhile, significant traffic jams have formed on the Crimean Bridge itself, with around 2,800 vehicles queuing: 1,000 vehicles are waiting to cross on the Taman side; 1,800 vehicles on the Kerch side. It used American labor to construct it. It used American steel to construct that bridge. The president in 2017 was actually in favor of this bridge. Why has the president changed his mind as it relates to this bridge? Leavitt: The fact that Canada will control what crosses the Gordie Howe Bridge and owns the land on both sides is unacceptable to the president. It's also unacceptable that more of this bridge isn't being built with more American made materials. The US should own half of the bridge.

BREAKING: Police audio has been released that captures dispatchers discussing with officers the approaching container ship and the subsequent collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. In the audio, you can hear an officer trying his best to get the traffic stopped going over the bridge as the ship approached. Thanks to some heroic officers, some of the traffic was cut off, but unfortunately some cars and workers still remained on the bridge when it collapsed.
