an hour ago, the US lifted sanctions on Syria. some living in the luxury of first world countries, who either haven't paid attention to the genocide and destruction that took place for 14 years or actively advocated for our murder, are furious that Syrians now get a chance to live a dignified life in the 21st century. who think we sold out for Apple Pay and chain coffee shops - not realising that this is what lifting the sanctions are for. this is what 80% of Syria looks like. if not completely destroyed — partially destroyed. these are the homes people will return to if not rebuilt. the lifting of sanctions will help propel our beloved back to civilisation and not be a country of rubble and ruins. it will not be a country etched completely by the spoils of Assad's war against the Syrian people.

A Video for an era that I hope comes to a close soon. Today's Trump arrest, Trump mug shot and the arrest of the other codefendants should be the end of an era, not the beginning of a new presidential term come 2024. Trump is NOT my president. He's not your president either. Republicans have choices for sure. They have a choice to go in a new direction towards a new candidate who doesn't have the baggage that Trump has. America has a choice to go in a direction away from the divsion and hate. This goes for both parties. This goes for everyone. I'm sure people will say that me posting mug shots of people indicted for racketeering is "divisive" but if you think doing so is divisive, you may need to reevaluate what you really want for this nation.

Open letter to all the good people on the planet from Ukrainians living in Russia-occupied Oleshky, Kherson region. “Help!!! SOS !!! We are residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, we appeal to the people of the entire civilized democratic world. First of all, we want to thank all the caring people who help Ukraine in the fight against the Russian aggressor, and those countries and their residents who gave shelter to Ukrainians who fled the war. This is not what we Ukrainians would want to see from our windows in winter. It would be better if the voices and laughter of children making snowmen or playing snowballs echoed from the courtyards of residential areas. One could step out onto the balcony and watch that very scene while sipping a warm tea or coffee, rather than the sights we see now. You cannot distract yourself from thoughts of the war for long; it continues, and everything around us tries to remind us of that. Over the years, the brain tries to pretend it has adapted to everything happening around it - to what the ears hear and the eyes see, to the various situations that occur here every day. But sanity is always on guard, and an inner voice says without words: this is not a normal life for a human being; if only everything could return to the way it was before. But is it even possible to return to the life we had, carrying such an experience on our shoulders? … Now, in the "points of warmth," you can see beds. You might ask: are these for overnight stays? The beds are intended for people who need assistance in the event of an emergency or for medical reasons, as well as for temporary rest if a person is in need of it… but people are still forced to return to their apartments.

What is the answer for this? I know some people genuinely need wheelchair assistance, and I understand that not every disability is visible. But let’s stop pretending nobody is taking advantage of it. On our last flight, there were at least a dozen wheelchairs lined up to board. I have been flying for years, and you used to see one or two. Now, some airport concourses look like wheelchair parking lots. Cruises and cruise lines are the same. Those chairs are for people who truly need help, not people who are too lazy to walk through the airport or stand in line. Abusing the service only makes it harder for the people who genuinely depend on it.

Jess Phillips is absolutely raging with contempt at Nigel Farage: “I don’t know if I could express my contempt any greater about what I think about him playing a game with a job that I believe to be an absolute privilege and an honour.” This is the same Jess Phillips who, as Safeguarding Minister, refused to launch a proper government inquiry into grooming gangs in Oldham and whose party voted to block a national inquiry into the whole scandal. If the job is such a sacred privilege that you cannot play games with it, why is Labour refusing to stand a candidate in this by election? Dodging the democratic process they claim to worship?
