Does it work against drones moving faster than a slow balloon? What's the practical range? Was expecting a bit more tbh, area coverage flak guns, CIWS shotguns, something with punch & charm.

This will work for about 3 months before someone figures out you can wrap a fiber optic controlled drone in aluminum foil

Real targets move faster than that. These test drones look like a batch of drones bought from Best Buy. Fight military class drones.

Have you watched video’s of drones when they are coming in for the kill. They are screaming fast. Show me a video of this taking down a swarm of drones coming in at 60 miles an hour and I’ll be impressed.

U have multiple waves of drones incoming, at different speeds, hundreds of yards apart, 300 ft, 500 ft, 1000 ft dif elevations all at the same time. Show us how effective it is in the real world?

On hovering drones I'm sure it does great. How about on 20 drones advancing below the treeline or hillside and then popping up to attack the defensive system at 80 mph?

Monty profil fotoğrafı

Yeah, that's gonna need extensive battlefield testing against fast moving attack drones, not just hovering or moving slowly

Oh really? How will this expensive piece of junk handle this Russian drone that ambushes its prey lying in wait listening for passersbys with only a microphone?

Taking out a swarm at the speed of a flintlock. Outstanding what's the ratio of this system vs the amount of drones you can run at the same price point? Our defense contractors are boomers and it shows.

Cute demo. Now put it on a Ukrainian pickup truck facing Shahed swarms and Lancet groups over Kharkiv, and we can talk. Lockheed has been showing off counter-drone toys for years while Ukraine builds its own for a fraction of the cost and actually uses them in combat.

And then artillery strikes or missiles destroy these high tech systems or the diesel generators powering these systems.

I've been waiting for this. Drones are going to need to be autonomous and have massive EM shielding in the future. They can't rely on being able to talk to base for guidance and an EM transmitter is cheep. 🫤

That’s cool. Drone-based defense is clearly becoming a major trend, and the ability to neutralize swarms is extremely valuable. At AeroDefense, we focus on RF-based detection, localization, and tracking, along with airspace intelligence platforms—providing the early-warning and situational-awareness layer at the front of the C-UAS kill chain.

@barnes_law @LockheedMartin this is the type of production I like to see my tax dollars going toward. Now we (the American taxpayer) just have to cut away the parasitic banking class that only sees their own profits behind blood-money investments…

Love the concept, but shooting them down one at a time instead of concurrently is incredibly underwhelming… maybe leaving me wanting more is the desired effect.

Drone tactics are usually "Hide&Destroy", as in just wait at the side of the road or wherever and go when needed. Drone swarms sound cool and look good in your head, but don't work in the field.

This is said to be a microwave weapon. However, there appears to flare of light as each drone dropes. Dose MORFUs use infrared or visible lasers in addition microwaves?

‼️🇺🇲 Lockheed Martin has officially unveiled a game-changing addition to the global air defense arsenal, introducing the PAC-3 Adapted Capability Effector (ACE)—a highly advanced, ultra-affordable Patriot interceptor specifically designed to shatter the economics of modern aerial warfare. The revolutionary missile is engineered to complement existing Patriot frameworks while slashing production costs to less than half the price of the current $4 million PAC-3 MSE interceptor. Developed through a high-impact collaboration between U.S. and European defense industries, the PAC-3 ACE is a direct response to the grueling tactical lessons of the war in Ukraine, where the massive proliferation of cheap enemy drones and loitering munitions has demanded a far more cost-effective defensive solution. Lockheed Martin confirmed that development is moving at an aggressive pace, with full-scale production projected to hit the assembly lines within the next 36 months. This breakthrough represents a massive strategic pivot that destroys Russia's and Iran's strategy of trying to bankrupt Western air defense systems through mass-produced drone swarms. By delivering a lethal, high-tier interceptor at a fraction of the traditional cost, the alliance ensures that defenders can protect critical infrastructure without depleting multi-million-dollar missile stockpiles on low-cost targets. As production gears up, the PAC-3 ACE will provide Ukraine and its allies with an unsustainable cost curve for the enemy, cementing long-term dominance over contested skies and ensuring the democratic world can out-produce and out-last any adversarial threat. ‼️‼️🇺🇲 BIG | The USA for the first time shot down a fiber-optic drone The American company Epirus reported a significant breakthrough in the field of countering drones. Its microwave system "Leonidas" for the first time hit a drone with fiber-optic control - one of the most difficult targets for modern electronic warfare means. Previously, the complex had already hit a swarm of 49 drones, but the new test was particularly significant. In December 2025, at a closed test range of the US Army, the system was able to disable a fiber-optic UAV, depriving it of control and causing an uncontrolled fall. Fiber-optic drones, which are widely used today, including in the Ukrainian theater of operations, do not use radio control channels. The signal is transmitted via a thin fiber-optic cable, which makes such drones extremely difficult to detect and suppress. In a report by the US Army in 2024, such drones were called "one of the main threats to air defense systems and anti-drone warfare". The CEO of Epirus noted that the mass spread of fiber-optic UAVs has become a turning point in the evolution of unmanned warfare and has revealed a serious gap in anti-drone defense systems - a gap that "Leonidas" is designed to close. In 2025, Epirus received a contract for $43.5 million for the supply of two second-generation "Leonidas" systems. Its range of destruction is more than twice that of the first version; a 30% increase in power; there are built-in high-energy batteries; a reduction in dependence on external power supply. The system can be installed on: Stryker 8×8 armored vehicles, light tactical vehicles, other mobile platforms. See the latest updates with us: Visioner

🚨🇮🇳 Drone threat? Meet India’s layered kill chain India is building a layered, multi-domain counter-drone ecosystem—blending indigenous innovation, strategic acquisitions, and tri-service integration to stay ahead in the evolving drone era. From micro-drone neutralization to large-area airspace defense, a new generation of homegrown anti-drone systems is taking shape: 1️⃣ D4: Designed to detect and neutralize micro and small UAVs within a 1–1.25 km range, delivering 360° coverage in both static and vehicle-mounted configurations. Developed by Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), produced by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). 2️⃣ Bhargavastra: Low-cost, AI-enabled hard-kill system built to counter drone swarms, combining guided and unguided micro-missiles, radar detection up to 6 km, and a 2.5 km strike range, with the ability to launch up to 64 micro-missiles simultaneously. 3️⃣ C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aerial System): A multi-layer, multi-sensor platform developed by Zen Technologies, integrating radar, camera-based tracking, GPS jamming, and kinetic interception to detect, track, and neutralise enemy drones. 4️⃣ Indrajaal: AI-powered autonomous defense system provides wide-area protection of up to 4,000 sq. km, enabling real-time detection, identification, and neutralization of aerial threats across critical infrastructure, including mobile patrol units. 5️⃣ Dronaam: A compact, indigenous solution offers directional and omnidirectional coverage, deployable as a rifle-style system or portable backpack unit for rapid, tactical counter-drone response.

First Drone vs. Manned Fighter Combat? On December 8, 2025, the Ukrainian Air Force confirmed the loss of a Su-27 fighter jet piloted by Lieutenant Colonel Yevhenii Ivanov, who was killed during a combat mission in the eastern direction. Yesterday, December 17, one Mi-24 was downed in same circumstances. Russian sources allege the aircraft was shot down, but Ukrainian statements describe the circumstances as under investigation, with no official confirmation of the cause. There are unverified Russian claims linking it to a modified Geran-2 drone equipped with an R-60 missile. Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed the existence of Geran-2 variants armed with R-60 air-to-air missiles, designed primarily to counter aircraft or helicopters approaching to intercept drone swarms. If independently verified, such an engagement could represent a significant milestone in drone-vs-manned aircraft combat. This development aligns with broader trends i mentioned in my previous article on Chinese high-altitude drones conducting air-to-air target acquisition from positions well above potential threats. Elon Musk has indeed argued that the future of warfare lies with unmanned aircraft, stating that manned fighter jets are becoming obsolete in the drone era and predicting a shift toward autonomous or remotely controlled systems. But i believe that it’s something to the next two decades. Sixth-generation aircraft concepts often emphasize manned platforms controlling swarms of drones (loyal wingmen), but the question pushes further: How will manned fighters compete against high-altitude unmanned systems operating 10–15 km above their service ceiling and potentially launching air-air hypersonic missiles? In January I will post an article on China's development of layered high-altitude drone systems for ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance), one optimized for aerial threats and another for naval targets. Recent Chinese programs, like high-altitude stealth drones, recharge stations and mothership concepts capable of deploying swarms, suggest active progress in this direction.
