Investigation will clarify the real cause of crash. The ATC & others would know if the take off was normal or something went terribly wrong! The critical point is did this aircraft fail to get lift required for climb up or otherwise? To what elevation did it climb! @DGCAIndia

Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. Here is a breakdown of what happened after WestJet 2276 Landed at Sint Maarten, SXM with Right Main Landing Gear collapsed. 1. Immediate Communication Once the B737-800 came to a halt on the runway, the Captain informed ATC: “We are stopping on the runway. Send fire rescue trucks.” 2. ATC Response ATC asked for the number of souls on board and the fuel quantity. The crew reported 11,600 pounds of fuel remaining. 3. Emergency Coordination ATC began coordinating with other inbound flights, instructing them to hold or consider alternates (San Juan). Fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene. 4. Engine Shutdown ATC instructed WS2276 to shut down engines as fire trucks approached. 5. Runway & Traffic Management ATC informed inbound aircrafts that the runway was disabled and closed due to WS2276. Flights such as Delta 1894 from Atlanta and JetBlue 887 from JFK were instructed to hold and report fuel endurance while awaiting further instructions. 6. Fire Suppression Measures Fire crews sprayed fire suppression foam around the aircraft as a safety precaution. 7. Evacuation Decision ATC asked the crew whether they would be deploying slides. WS2276 initiated an emergency evacuation, but ATC specifically advised: “Do not deploy slides on the starboard (right) side.” 8. Passenger Evacuation Slides were deployed on the port (left) side of the aircraft.
