After protests erupted in Pakistan-administered Kashmir in June, authorities enforced a severe communications blackout. Since then, we’ve heard harrowing reports of Pakistani security services firing on tens of thousands of peaceful protesters, killing at least 30 people this week. Just as I have previously in relation to atrocities committed by Indian-administered Kashmir, I urged our government to put pressure on Pakistani counterparts to end the blockade and stop violence towards protesters.
