And he gets asked by a really smart, enterprising local reporter about his position on data centers. And the man clearly hasn't actually thought about his position on data centers. And he's like, I think we should take a pause. And then his his his team trying to make up for the fact that he just made policy from the hip because he hasn't taken the time to think about it, issues a press release calling for a statewide moratorium. But guess what? He's running for U.S. Senate, meaning he can't actually do anything at the state level. These aren't serious people. These are corporate shills who are bought off by the companies who stand to benefit at our loss. AOC: An alternative point of consideration here, in terms of New York State’s recent moratorium—the kind of thought that, well, if you don’t want to build in your backyard, then maybe you shouldn’t have access to compute. We could say to the Silicon Valley billionaires who are constructing, pushing, and imposing these data centers on communities that are overwhelmingly rural, disenfranchised, and poor. Ask if they want one of these data centers in their own backyard. Ask any one of us here on this committee. If anyone wants to live right next to one of these centers, please raise your hand.
