Jumbo has been battling health issues for a few weeks. He had a big series of tests this morning and it confirmed what I sadly knew in my own gut already. Jumbo has a week or 2 to live at most. Very late stage kidney failure. The finality of It is like a punch to the stomach. I rescued him from the streets 18 months ago. The damage had been done to him from neglect over the years. His health is going down so fast I wanted to take a short walk with him in the sun. I’m hoping it won’t be our last just yet but the steps were not easy. 🥲

Many people tagged me in a viral video of this American man, who has been widely referred to as the "Mzungu Chokoraa," claiming that he had been abandoned and was living on the streets. After I shared the video, his wife reached out to me and requested that I visit him to understand the true situation. This evening, I met him and his family, and I learned that he is not homeless. He is a married man, a father of five children, and has been living with his family in Texas, USA. According to his family, he has bipolar disorder, and his condition became worse after the passing of his mother. He is currently under medical care and takes prescribed medication. The family explained that during some episodes of his illness, he may leave home and wander the streets. This has led many people to believe that he is homeless, which is not true. They also shared that he has a passion for recycling and environmental conservation, which is why he is sometimes seen collecting recyclable materials or around dumpsites. I would like to clarify to the general public that this man is not homeless. He has a loving family that cares deeply for him. When you see him on the streets, please do not judge or discriminate against him. Instead, treat him with dignity, kindness, and respect, knowing that he is living with a mental health condition. The family has also appealed to the public not to buy him alcohol or give him weed, as both can interfere with his prescribed medication and may seriously affect his health. Let us replace stigma with understanding and compassion. Mental health conditions can affect anyone, and those living with them deserve our support, respect, and humanity.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson had a ridiculous meltdown on Tuesday when asked what he’s going to do to bring crime down if he refuses federal help. He said crime is down and he’s using every tool available to him, except federal, of course. Johnson then says “jails, and incarceration, and law enforcement is a sickness that has not led to safe communities.” With an attitude like that it’s no surprise that Chicago has more m*rders than any other city in the US for 13 years straight. Johnson also plays the race card, of course, during his angry yelling. He says he’ll help the people in this community because they’ll black like him. (nbcchicago on TT)
