BREAKING: New, much more clear video of the American Airlines collision with the Black Hawk. Thoughts from any Pilots?

@krassenstein Why doesn’t the controller refer to the plane by a specific identifier or position relative to the Blackhawk?

@krassenstein I believe the tower tells them on the second call out that the plane is on final. If that’s the case even a student pilot would realize they don’t have the correct traffic insight. Plus why cross the active runway at 400ft? They could have climbed. That’s a rookie mistake

@krassenstein Why wasn’t there confirmation about which CRJ from what direction or other specifier. Ever since I heard the transcript I thought that was a flaw. I don’t like that the military pilots are permitted responsibility for “visual separation”. Changes need to happen.

@krassenstein Also wouldn’t the CRJ they were alerted to be on the Blackhawk’s radar screen. Could there be a way for Air Traffic control to highlight and signal which plane they are referring too in all that congestion.

@krassenstein Looks like the helicopter ran into them on purpose

@krassenstein The problem I see is that initially PAT25 is completely NE of (DCA) and flies S. thereafter becoming adjacent to (DCA) & now impeding RWY 33, 1, & 4. Assuming PAT25 mistook 5342 for 3130, 3130 clearance would still be RWY 1 or 4, making PAT25 still within the landing path.
