Great work! Liv. Superconductivity is a set of physical properties observed in certain materials where electrical resistancevanishes and magnetic flux fields are expelled from the material. Any material exhibiting these properties is a superconductor. Unlike an ordinary metallic conductor, whose resistance decreases gradually as its temperature is lowered, even down to near absolute zero, a superconductor has a characteristic critical temperature below which the resistance drops abruptly to zero. An electric current through a loop of superconducting wire can persist indefinitely with no power source.

As a person known to make a bet or two…. What are your odds LK99 or a close variant will prove to be a room temp superconductor?

Is that you? Beautifully explained. I'll take a physics lesson like this everyday if I could 👍👍

Liv (and livs audience) you're invited to join us today at this space as we try and fill in the blanks, have Korean natives on the ground reading library papers, and folks who are actively replicating these (3?) papers!

Amazing that a Dutch physicist discovered Supeconductivity in 1911. Those old school scientists took the electricity and really ran with it. No peer review or “settled science”. Mostly self-funded research. Just tinkering in a lab and going wherever their imaginations led them

I am an EE and former physics student, and this is an amazingly good breakdown that is teaching me things I didn't know. Brava! I genuinely didn't think about how the brownian motion of the atoms makes their cross section bigger for interaction and thus temp == resistance. Thanks

OMG. Liv Boeree lecturing on superconductors in front of a massive boardgame collection. Just stop doing this to me, Liv. Im a man having a mid life crisis and I can’t take it anymore.
