We do have rules and limits on free speech. Defamation isn't protected speech, incitement to unlawful action, actual threats, false advertising, etc. But I gather these aren't the rules/limits she's talking about. I don't think we're interested in having those.

Nope. The problem with this line of thinking is that it creates a class of people who govern our speech. They decide what is allowable and what is not. And, they will inevitably squash speech that gets in the way of their own power and agendas. Free speech must be absolute.
