I had my doubts whether Shizuru actually had feelings for Goh, but this episode made it crystal clear. He was her crush, not simply because he was tall and handsome and cool, but because he inspired her to become a sniper who never misses. She was awful at shooting at first and yet she pushed herself and became excellent at it because of him. I think her feelings for him grew steadily over time and just before she could ever confess, he got married. That must have been heartbreaking for her. I didn’t like how harshly she treated Anna, but watching her overcome her jealousy and sincerely accept Goh and Anna’s relationship made me truly love her character.

Just to avoid being sent back to the same hell you spent your whole life trying to escape. And all of this… because the only thing you wanted was to study. A basic human right btw!! Yet people were so cruel and disgusting that they reduced the whole situation to “she was offering her body for him.” Meanwhile, he literally saw her shaking from fear while she was taking off her robe. Had an interesting conversation this weekend with an older relative who's politics are "just be a good person". She's relatively wealthy and gives to the types of causes you would expect this type of person to give. She gives her time too. She is actually a good person. I asked her if she was ever concerned that the causes she gave to would reduce the proportion of people like her in the world. She said that she thought the opposite. That she was inspired by the generosity and kindness of others, and that by giving she would increase the proportion of people like her. I said I believed she inspires her peers, but her peers aren't the people she's giving money to. Do they become productive and generous people, like her? Or is she just increasing the proportion of people who are takers and don't give anything back? Despite decades of generosity, this was clearly a question she had never thought about. The implications made her uncomfortable, and the conversation basically ended after that.

This Ghanaian lady, Nairy, moved from Ghana to Nigeria because of his Nigerian boyfriend.
