In Kenya we are deeply invested in conversations around democratic rights, human rights, and freedoms. These concepts , in this context, might sound distant or even abstract to a section of our neighbors. It also explains why the internet is treated as a threat to the state and why it has been banned during this elections. Access to information changes expectations, comparison, and awareness. The contrast is sobering and honestly, quite sad. 😔
