I'm not a fan of the lack of co-location. it seemss like views are in completely separate directories from the livewire classes and there are magic naming conventions that link the views to the livewire controllers? I'm going to look more into Volt because this aint it.

one has all this built in: database orm, database seeding, configurable middleware pipelines, request validation, redis caching, session management, file storage, queue workers, rate limiting, task scheduling and more the other is nextjs

But can it deploy to edge?

two different types of simplicity imo it's the equivalent of comparing an empty, structureless cardboard box (nextjs) to an empty storage organiser (laravel) when they're empty, Laravel looks a lot more complex, sure but when they're full of features in a non-trivial application (ie, not a TODO app) then the simplicity of Laravel's organization becomes quite apparent you can DIY your own organization into nextjs but unless you're a *very* good engineer, it's so easy to mess it up

Haha, I'm a JavaScript fanboy, so I love my @nexjs but your missing the point with @laravelphp . The way I think of Laravel is that it's a "everything including the batteries" type framework. You might lose things like co-location but then you gain the ability to use and snap in things like authentication, authorization, an ORM, a dashboard, Stripe, email, etc, etc, etc. And a large chunk of it is free. Also, the documation is fantastic, and courses through @laracasts offer some really easy onboarding. I swear, one of these days. They might end up turning my into a PHP fan and I'll finally end up owning a lambo.

You guys are pathetic with these framework wars. 🤣

The cool thing is that every Laravel developer knows where to look in any project. This enables us to achieve zero-time developer onboarding.
