BROWDER: What happens if Putin uses nuclear weapon? Does he win the war? No, it will be the end of Putin. Putin will become fully defined war criminal who's committed extra atrocities against civilians, and still hasn’t won the war. What happens the next day if Putin hits Kyiv with a nuclear attack? Do Ukrainians give up? No. Main problem for Russians is that they can’t get across frontline. Will Ukrainian drone operators all be dead? No. Then Chinese are saying, “We can’t give you any more money.” Entire Global South will step away, and so on. He understands that the launch of nuclear weapon is the end of Putin. I mean, that’s probably his logic. He would've already done it if he thought it's going to help him. We’re 4.5 years into this war, he won’t do it.

He says, “I’m upset with NATO,” or “I’m upset with Nazis in Ukraine,” etc. And so we in the West say, “Well, maybe if we give him this or do that, or give him a little more of Ukraine, then he’ll calm down.” But it has nothing to do with what he wants. All he wants is to save his own skin. And to save his own skin, he needs to be in power. And to be in power, he needs this war. And in fact, if you look at World War I, the war that Putin never talks about, it was the implosion of the tsarist regime that forced Russia to pull out of the conflict. All of this is to say that Putin is probably wondering, along with others around him, whether there is some possibility of securing a strategic pause at this point. A pause that might allow him to regain a better grip on the situation. But that is also very dangerous. So, I don’t think we’re at that point yet, but it's absolutely correct to lay out the facts, that something could happen very suddenly. And if you look back at the Soviet Union, there were all kinds of predictions about its demise, and then it happened in ways that almost no one had really anticipated." Trump wants Putin to end the war in Ukraine faster. That would make it easier for the US to fight against Iran. 'I had a very good conversation with President Putin. There were many people on the line from both our side and his side. We talked about Ukraine, where there's an endless struggle going on. I think it was a positive conversation on this issue. Then, of course, we talked about the Middle East. And he wants to be helpful. I said: 'You could be much more helpful if the war between Ukraine and Russia ended' - that would really be more helpful.
