original CSS BSPs converted offline into meshes, textures and collision data. the browser loads the selected map as compressed, cached bundles. three.js handles rendering and the surf physics runs locally in your browser.

Last week-end I built a watercolor simulator based on real physics (as much as possible). A lot of you asked to play with it so i improved it and it's now live. New since the prototype: - More pigments (52), based on the best research out there to predict color mixes (Kubelka-Munk). - More luminous / glassy feel - Some fun experimental stuff like the salt and alcohol techniques to alter the texture, a backlight effect and a few more. - I also added a Code mode where the simulator prints its real function calls next to the sheet while you paint 🤓♥️ It's still largely based on the same physics model as my prototype: Curtis et al.'s "Computer-Generated Watercolor". All in the browser. Current status: building and implementing a kid-friendly version for Marble App. Plenty of awesome things to learn with watercolor painting!

I¹ ported my Mini web browser to Rust & Swift. It's faster, more secure, and shockingly, nicer to iterate on than Electron + Bun. I always wanted Safari-like UX but… Chrome 😁. Thanks to the 𝚌𝚎𝚏 crate, I can bundle up-to-date Chromium. 𝚏𝚡 𝚊𝚌𝚙 lets me embed an agent without bloating the app. It talks to my local fx CLI over ACP. fx can then manage the browser via an MCP server². By ditching Electron, I was able to get Liquid Glass, faster boots, and a more Mac-native feeling. Little things like fine-grained focus and input control, which are nightmare fuel in JS, just work®. Native is the future, both on the desktop and in the cloud. I suspect the entire software world will "nativify" faster than people realize, as DHH hinted at Rails World. Excited that Vercel's bet on Fluid will help support this, whether you choose to go Rust, Go, Zig, scriptc… ¹ Built on with Opus 5.5 and Sol 6 ² In the process I learned about which I'm now really excited about. This will allow a more secure and direct way to expose MCP tools

Hermes just made its in-app browser a whole lot more useful. You can now keep multiple browser tabs open inside Hermes Desktop instead of every new page replacing the one you were already using. And that matters more than it sounds. Because this is not just about “having tabs.” It means Hermes can work across multiple pages without forcing you to keep losing your place every time you open the next thing. Research one source, keep it open, open another tab, compare them side by side, and keep moving. Check a few products before buying something. Look at multiple hotel or travel options at once. Keep a YouTube tutorial open in one tab while Hermes looks through docs or another page in the next. And because this lives inside Hermes Desktop, you are not limited to one basic browser view either. You can keep multiple tabs open. You can view two pages side by side. You can stack them top and bottom. You can even run a four-panel view when you want several pages open at once. So the browser inside Hermes is starting to feel a lot more like a real workspace instead of one page you keep replacing. There is also some nice polish that comes with it. Browser tabs now label themselves based on the page, and the address bar behaves more cleanly while pages are loading. And remember, this is the same in-app browser Hermes can already read, click through, type in, scroll, and annotate. So this is not just a prettier browser. That "very special" new Half-Life compatible engine, Xash3D, which maximqad just BARELY got ported to the Sega Dreamcast the other day? ...Well here's a direct hardware capture of it now bringing us back online with COUNTER STRIKE 1.6 running on the DC! In addition to fixing the obvious polygon jittering towards the camera's near Z-plane (which, seriously, we have no clue about yet, lmfao), he's also hoping to become the first engine to support downloading custom maps and assets from remote servers and storing them onto the DC with either the SD card or the IDE/SATA hard drive mod! For the full capture and even more footage of of this engine and various other homebrew, please follow DC-SWAT's YouTube channel. He's the author of DreamShell and posts new captures regularly!
