Most Canadians are focused on Bill C-34. Before that it was Bill C-22. Before that it was Bill C-9. And that is exactly the problem. Professor of Law at Queen's University Bruce Pardy just explained why fighting each bill one by one will never fix Canada. The bills are not the problem. They are the distraction. The real problem is the system that keeps producing them — a governing structure that allows elected politicians to hand unlimited power to unelected bureaucrats who answer to no one and serve indefinitely. Until Canadians understand that, nothing changes. Watch the full conversation here 👇

Alberta separatism rising because Canada is 'broken' and 'can't be fixed': Bruce Pardy 🍁 "They're looking for a different solution, and that solution is to leave. And I agree with them about the necessity for doing that," said law professor Bruce Pardy. On last night's episode of The Ezra Levant 🍁🚛 Show, law professor Bruce Pardy joined the show to discuss Alberta's rising independence movement and its potential future implications. Pardy discussed the likely thought process behind the rising number of Albertans who see independence as the most logical path forward after years under a federal Liberal government. "Canada is broken. It's become apparent, through the COVID period, but not limited to COVID, that there's something seriously wrong in this country in all different kinds of ways," he said. "And second, it can't be fixed. It seems like we've arrived at a place in this country, both in terms of our constitutional order and the way we're governed and the way that people think even, that contemplating any serious reform of the way the country works is not on the table," Pardy continued. "So if the country is broken and cannot be fixed, then what else do you got? And what appears to be the case is that in Alberta there's some kind of critical mass of people who understands both those two things ... And therefore they're looking for a different solution, and that solution is to leave. And I agree with them about the necessity for doing that," he added. The Alberta Prosperity Project is currently leading a citizen-led petition drive to reach 177,732 signatures in order to trigger a referendum on independence later this year. Proponents of Alberta's independence cite the province's untapped economic potential through natural resources and unfair treatment by the federal government as key reasons for seeking separation.

Hate speech? If you support Canada’s Bill C-9 (Combatting Hate Act) or any ‘hate speech’ regime, you’re not compassionate — you’re an idiot & an advocate for totalitarianism. The Left can’t define it without admitting it’s “whatever we don’t like today.” The Soviets didn’t call it ‘hate speech’ either. They called any dissent ‘counter revolutionary’ and sent people to the Gulag. Jordan Peterson explains it perfectly. History’s clear. Wake the hell up Canada.

🚨Queen’s University law professor Bruce Pardy warns: Mark Carney branded peaceful truckers “seditionists” and “terrorists” simply for protesting Trudeau’s mandates — no violence, just honking horns and parking tickets. Now as Prime Minister, he’s advancing Liberal hate speech laws that will silence dissent and crush the right to protest. Every Canadian 🇨🇦 should be deeply worried: our free speech is in grave danger. Wake up! #MarkCarneyMustGo

The Combatting Antisemitism Hate and Extremism (Criminal and Migration) Bill or Hate Groups Bill will come before the Senate this afternoon. I OPPOSE the Bill and will vote against it in its entirety. The Bill if passed expands state powers in ways that will erode freedoms under the guise of protecting against “hate”. The big winners today will be the security state not everyday Australians who will soon be even less free than they once were. The Liberals just tabled Bill C-9, the so-called “Combatting Hate Act.” On the surface, it looks like a crackdown on hate crimes. In reality, it hands Ottawa sweeping new powers to police speech, symbols, and motives—all under their subjective definition of “hate.”

Bill C-9, C-22 And C-8 Are All Interconnected: Why Aren't They Talking About This? Bill C-9 criminalizes hate speech — it defines what you're allowed to say. Bill C-22 forces telecoms to record everything you do online and save it for up to one year without a warrant. Bill C-8 allows the government to cut you off the internet entirely if they consider you a threat to the network. They would never know you're a threat without Bill C-22. They could never call you a threat without Bill C-9. What will it take for Conservatives and Independent Media to start connecting the dots?

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community. Bill C-9, the Combatting Hate Act, would stop the use of swastikas and symbols of terror organizations to promote hate, and it strengthens hate laws and protections against intimidation intended to impede access to a place of worship. This legislation is about protecting people and standing up against hate — conservatives need to stop the obstruction and vote for it.
