I don’t support any so called “compromise position” in relation to the Hate Crimes Bill being introduced into Parliament today and will be crossing the floor to vote against it and the Firearms Bill it in their entirety. The Labor Government’s process has been appalling but the content of their Bills is even worse. We can’t be “half pregnant” when it comes to the topic of free speech. In a few weeks, the Senate will vote on the ASIO Amendment Bill (No. 2)—and every Australian who values freedom under the law should be paying attention. This Bill doesn’t just extend extraordinary powers—it makes them permanent. Powers that were meant to expire by March 2027 would instead become ongoing. It expands compulsory questioning for adults and even minors, weakens safeguards, limits access to legal counsel, and lacks proper judicial oversight. These are not ordinary powers. They allow the state to compel answers under threat of penalty. That is a serious intrusion into personal liberty. Of course, national security matters—but it must never come at the unchecked expense of freedom. For these reasons, I will NOT be supporting this Bill. Last night I voted against Labor’s Under 16 Social Media Ban Bill in the Senate. While I understand the concerns that many have about children and social media, Labor's Bill was rushed through the parliament. This Bill warranted far greater scrutiny and debate. It affects all Australians, yet only 24 hours were afforded for public submissions (which were overwhelmingly negative). I had more to say but, like other members, had little time. If passed, this Bill with broaden the powers so far that they might sweep up legitimate political activity. I will be opposing this Bill. Extraordinary powers should never become ordinary.

The Bill will change and expand the definition of vaccine to include any “immunising agent, that confers protection to persons through active or passive immunity against disease”. What that will likely mean is more products being paid for by the tax payer and presumably added to the childhood schedule in due course. I will NOT BE SUPPORTING the Bill.

Let’s be clear: Bill C-9, The Combatting Hate Act, is the anti-hate legislation that communities and law enforcement across Canada are asking for. Our government remains willing to work across the aisle to look for constructive improvements to this Bill. What we will not accept are endless delays and Conservative tactics designed to dodge a vote on this bill. I made a promise to my constituents to stand up for them and pass laws to fight back against hate immediately. Canadians want action- it’s time for Conservative members to get on board.

Yesterday afternoon the Senate bricked into law Labor’s Australian Centre for Disease Control Bill. With the mistakes of the COVID era fresh in our minds, and the United States moving away from a CDC model, Australia will now have another enforcement arm of the ideological state bricked into our health bureaucracy. Furthermore, this CDC has embedded One Health as a core guiding principle promoting the “practical collaboration” between doctors, ecologists and wildlife biologists to name but a few. How long before we get our first “climate lockdown”? The Bill passed but for these and many other reasons I voted against it. Karnatka's Hate Speech Bill: Congress government in Karnataka has tabled a bill that claims to curb hate speech, but it attempts to risk free speech! The wording of the bill is vague and open to interpretation, which means even ordinary statements could be judged as ill will and lead to serious criminal action. India already has laws to deal with hate speech, and even the Supreme Court has said that the real problem is weak enforcement, not the absence of law. When the line between free speech and crime becomes unclear, people begin to self censor out of fear rather than responsibility!
