That is nonuniform taxation. It means that for the first time we're saying based on the demographics of a person meaning whatever you want to use to define that person (in this case their wealth) — you are going to be treated differently. And that is different than an income tax, because remember when you have graduated income tax rates (and you say high earners get taxed more) — what you're taxing is the earnings, not the individual. You're not looking through to the individual to determine whether or not they're wealthy. All you're doing is looking at the independent earnings amount that's coming in. And so a uniformity clause is supposed to protect people from being demographically discriminated against. And you may roll your hand and be like: ‘Oh, who cares about the billionaires? Eat the rich. That's great.’ But fundamentally, you're giving the government, the legislature, the ability to in the future take any demographic definition they want and go in and take any percentage they want of after-tax property from you. We have signed multiple Memoranda of Understanding with local and international partners that will divert close to 5,000 metric tonnes from the daily waste stream through recycling, reuse, and resource recovery. These 10 new compactors will be strategically deployed to critical locations experiencing high waste generation and to communities that need enhanced evacuation services. They will improve our turnaround time, support the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, and help us sustain the cleaner Lagos we are building. Comm. says the State Government will continue to pay special attention to waste conversion The quest to make good use of the high solid waste generated in Lagos State got another boost on Tuesday as the state expressed readiness to partner with some Sweden organizations on how to turn both solid waste and liquid waste to energy across the metropolis. Speaking during the meeting at Alausa, Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab said the state will continue to pay special attention to waste management adding that waste is not a waste but remain one of the best resource every where. He said Waste to energy is a project that the State Government is willing to embark on in order to move the narrative forward in a progressive and productive way. "Our resolve from the beginning of this tenure is that whatever we have to engage in to manage and deploy our solid and liquid waste as a resource is a priority for this government as it will save Lagos but other neighbouring state" he said. The Commissioner stated that the Ministry which is a public facing ministry has resolved to embrace any project that will cut the carbon foot print in the state. He said the state being a coastal state is faces alot of challenges, one of which is the Atlantic Ocean rising at the peak of the rainy season adding that the state is also at the end of numerous tributaries where water is discharged into the lagoon all of which could lead to flooding in the state. He said lagos generates between 13,000 to 14,000 tonnes of waste per day and the state is open to suggestions about possible productive ways to turn it into a Resources and move the state forward. Wahab said lagos as a State is working to decongest the roads and make Lagos a 21st century mega city saying that the cause and effect on the environment is that these moves help to reduce the emissions on the long run. According to him, As a result of current energy crisis in Nigeria, this has caused the spike in the cost of PMS and its multiple effects on the economy. So if the Lagos State Government can go ahead with this project. it will solve half of the problem in the PMS high price in Lagos. "This project is something we have to pursue deliberately and diligently. This is because while the government on its own part is trying to push out CNG at lower cost, conversion of waste to energy will also be an option especially for public transport in Lagos" Wahab said Lagos account for over 50% of the vehicular traffic in the country with the smallest land mass as well as 22million people which is 10% of the country’s population being inhabited in with less than 3,600 square kilometers of land, stressing that the project is not an option but a necessity. He recalled that earlier in the year, the state government had been in consultation with two Dutch companies one which will turn waste to energy and the other which will deal with electronic waste, adding that the state can indeed change the notion that waste is not a waste but a resource. The head of the delegation, representative of the Consul of Sweeden and the Business Promotion Officer, Sweden Embassy Abuja, Ms. Sara Ibru noted that the Lagos Government is known to be very pro - active in all its endeavours and that the Swedish Organizations are willing to collaborate with Lagos State to turn solid and liquid wastes into valuable resources. That water has to be flushed out every couple years Whistleblowers say that chemical water is being pushed into our streams and waterways and may have extremely limited cleaning requirements depending on state “I'm getting whistleblowers on the inside saying that they're taking all that waste and they're just running it down into the sewers. They're wanting to go to more closed cooling systems, and in those closed cooling systems, you still are gonna be using chemicals. At the panel session on “Rising Seas, Resilient Communities: Climate Adaptation Strategies in West Africa” at Harvard Business School earlier today, I had the opportunity to share Lagos State’s realities as a coastal megacity. Lagos sits on the continental shelf. Our land mass has grown from 3,577 to 4,050 square kilometres, largely through reclamation of wetlands and lagoon bodies. While this expansion has created space for real estate and infrastructure, it also comes with risks. This is why we insist that no reclamation takes place without Environmental Impact Assessments and drainage masterplans. These checks are necessary because when reclamation is done indiscriminately, it blocks stormwater pathways, destroys natural buffers like mangroves, and exposes millions of our people to flooding and erosion. As a city of over 22 million residents, we face additional pressures in managing daily waste. Lagos has long relied on a linear waste system with landfills, many of which are now decommissioned or about to be decommissioned . Today, we are deliberately shifting to a circular model that sees waste as a resource for wealth and energy. We have entered partnerships across the sub-region and beyond , including with a Ghanaian company that is helping us turn thousands of tonnes of waste into compost and reusable materials, while also setting up transfer loading stations to reduce what ends up in our landfills . We also recognize that Lagos is not alone in these challenges. The entire Gulf of Guinea shares similar threats. What happens in Togo, with its 42-mile coastline, or in Ghana, can affect us directly. That is why we have reached out to our neighbors and built regional partnerships on coastal protection, solid waste management, and climate adaptation. Our commitment is clear: to protect our environment, prosecute those who damage it, communicate with our citizens through advocacy on safe practices, and work with regional and international partners to build a Lagos that is not just surviving climate change but leading in adaptation strategies. Here's why: · Finance Bill 2026 proposes to amend Sec75 of the Tax Procedures Act to provide that the Revenue Authority may use technology to pre-populate tax returns on behalf of a person required to submit or lodge a tax return · Finance Bill 2026 further proposes that a person required to submit or lodge a tax return may rely on pre-populated return generated by the Revenue Authority to file their return · Finance Bill 2026 proposes to amend Sec112 to provide that the Cabinet Secretary of the National Treasury may make Regulations for the procedure for the submission or lodging of returns based on pre-populated tax returns generated by the Revenue Authority Here's where the problem is: · In all this, Sec56(1) which provides that "In any proceedings, the burden shall be on the taxpayer to prove that a tax decision is incorrect" remains unchanged · Sec56(1) is predicated on the fact that Kenya has been running on a self-assessment based regime & the data upon which tax disputes emerges was held by the taxpayer · With Incomes & Expenses Validation & the onset of a Dual Assessment regime in Kenya, taxpayers are now exposed not just to errors of judgement & data on their part, but also errors of technology & transmission which are out of their control · Can we really still have the burden of proof lying exclusively with the taxpayer in an environment where tax compliance has shifted from a function of record keeping to one where system integration reliability is now a key factor?

A plot that used to house one residence suddenly has 80 apartments which means 100+ cars . Who needs a flower bed on a major road busy commercial street, links Road is now a commercial road. David Friedberg: The Socialists Are Coming for Your Private Property Rights At a recent hearing held by NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a speaker equated evictions with violence. david friedberg says this demonization of landlords and the good/evil moralistic framing are signals that socialists are trying to erode private property rights in America. “In 1787, John Quincy Adams had a comment, ‘The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence.’ Private property rights are the foundations of liberty in America. Because if you think about where everyone that came to America was coming from, there were these tyrannical governments where some overlord or some cabal could decide at any point to take the things that you have. You had no private property rights as an individual. And it was that stasis that drove so many to come to the United States and say, ‘We want a place where individuals, one person, can say, I own something, and no one can take it from me.’ This idea that you can then claim acts of violence, that you can then claim circumstances of extraordinary extravagant wealth, and say to that individual, ‘I now have a right, the government now has a right to take your private property,’ ultimately leads to this tyrannical form. And it starts out as being anarchic, and remember, anarchy is a temporary state. It's always in between one state and another. All anarchies end up in tyranny, so anarchy and tyranny are one in the same. And fundamentally, what's going on with these socialist principles is that, ‘We are taking your private property, and you no longer have rights on your private property. We now will have the right to come in and take your property and control it and take it from you.’ And it always starts with this framing of moralistic intent. ‘We are good, you are bad for the following reasons. You have committed violence against the people that live in your building.’ So the first framing is that the private property owner is evil, and that the private property owner has committed an act of injustice against those who don't have the private property. And that is the justification for taking away their private property rights. And it is the beginning of this transition towards a tyrannical system, which will ultimately be what I call this kind of Great American Politburo or whatever socialist framework gets set up by the cabal of the socialists and what they're trying to put together. So all of these little acts, while seeming ridiculous, and insane, and inappropriate, in aggregate are the same thing: They're a transition away from private property rights, which is the foundation of the United States of America. That's why I think we should all be so shocked. And to John Quincy Adams' point, we need to vehemently defend those rights. As soon as those rights start to slip away, even in the tiniest way, it is a cascading effect, and everything will become tyrannical, and it will be very ugly in the United States of America.”

Please listen, and share. Mayor Brandon Johnson held a press conference to announce what he calls the Protecting Renters Ordinance. But we're not playing these games anymore. Chicago taxpayers know the city paid 9,000 dollars a month to house illegal aliens, while many Chicago citizens were pushed out of apartment buildings because landlords could receive higher payments. We also know proposals were made to protect those illegal aliens from eviction, even as many Chicago citizens continued to struggle. So here's my question: Where was the Protecting Homeownership Ordinance? When property taxes on the South and West Sides skyrocketed, and in some cases tripled, why wasn't there an ordinance to protect Chicago homeowners? Why wasn't there a property tax freeze for the citizens who worked their entire lives to pay off their homes, only to risk losing them because of rising taxes? Why wasn't an executive order issued to protect Chicago citizens? As Mayor, my administration will end Chicago's sanctuary city policies, and Chicago citizens will come first. When I propose a property tax freeze or homeownership protections, there will be no confusion about who those policies are for, they will be for the citizens of Chicago. I will not apologize for putting Chicago citizens first. That's exactly what I intend to do as Mayor.
