“It exists at their pleasure” unfortunately shows he needs to study more

It’s very interesting how Ray views the government‘s relationship with bitcoin. He must either know some things that we don’t know, or have a different understanding.

Ray Dalio trusts gold because its fluctuations feel familiar. "Governments can control Bitcoin," he says. But governments can't control a fully permissionless and decentralized network, they can seize gold. What he calls volatility, I call truth: Bitcoin's price mirrors the world waking up to a system built on rules, not rulers. Bet on math, not politics.

@saylor any thoughts on Ray’s comments on how the governments can tax BTC but can’t do the same with gold?

Bro doesn’t understand coinjoins… Enforcing taxation will be nearly impossible on the bitcoin standard.

Split the risk. Gold isn't likely to nosedive unless we find a giant meteor made of diamond and/or gold and we go mine it. BTC still has an unknown upper bound

Unclear why he thinks “governments can control it.” It exists at their pleasure and governments would rather you be holding bitcoin than gold? I don’t know if he has deeper arguments to back up those statements but tbh it seems like a very surface level understanding and more study is needed

Governments cannot “control Bitcoin ₿”. The volatility is due to it still being a novel monetary asset with a small market cap, and it trading 24/7/365 with the lowest inflation rate against other monetary assets.
