Later, Ukrainian diplomat Oleksandr Chalyi recalled: “Putin tried to do everything possible to conclude an agreement” that would have left a “neutral” #Ukraine intact. 1 April: USAID revealed photographic and video evidence of a “massacre” in Bucha - and financed a press tour featuring US public figures. Problem: Four days earlier at a press conference, the mayor of Bucha announced that the Russians had retreated from the city, but he did not mention that there had been a massacre. After the Russians left without a fight, the regime scattered bodies in the streets that included both actors in body bags and recently killed “Russian collaborators” from Bucha - giving an “outraged” Joe Biden and Boris Johnson, who flew unannounced to Kiev, the justification to order #Zelensky to “keep fighting.” Over three years ago, in #Istanbul, it was Biden, Johnson and Zelensky - not Putin – who chose to walk away from peace.

I was one of those who saw Bucha after it was liberated from Russia. I organized for Western and global media to visit Bucha right away. Thanks to these journalists, the world found out the truth about Russia's war crimes - no matter how hard Russia tried to deny it afterwards. I will never forget the horrible smell of the bodies of the poor people who were killed by the Russians. I will always remember the stories of those who survived occupation. I was there when the mass burial of Ukrainians in liberated Izium was exhumed. I talked to the people who survived Russian occupation there. Anyone who has ever seen this horror, realizes what will happen to Ukrainian cities and villages if Russia captures them. And that is why we fight so desperately and do anything we can so that Russians don't come to our homes.
