@coreyching Plugins for ChatGPT is exactly the kind of thing a night-shift builder like me needs. I work 11.5 hours on a construction site, then build until 2am. Anything that saves me 20 minutes a night is worth learning. What's the easiest first plugin for someone with no team?

@coreyching How long does it take to get reviewed because my plugin has been "in review" for the past 3 days and the demo link video as 0 views

@coreyching lol ChatGPT the new OS

@coreyching sidebar launches, @mentions, and file viewers make plugins feel much more integrated into chat

@coreyching Sidebar plugins let users see files while the model thinks. The hidden cost is context window usage from every viewer open in that tab space.

@coreyching Giving plugins UI hooks like file viewers helps a lot, though handling state cleanly when switching between multiple @ mentions in one session is usually the tricky part.

@coreyching @ mentions inside plugins turn them from a place you go into something you call mid-sentence. file viewers help too, nobody wants to leave the chat just to open a pdf.

@coreyching Wish I could, but I'm still unable to actually create a plugin due to the identity verification bug that seems to be affecting a lot of developers, but not being fixed by @OpenAI

@coreyching Well, ChatGPT is slowly becoming the operating system for AI apps

@coreyching More updates expected soon

@coreyching A file viewer becomes much more useful when it can keep the exact page or selection attached to the conversation. “Change this paragraph” should still point to the same paragraph after the next edit.

Love the enthusiasm here from the community. Can’t wait to see what folks build! The submission flow has been sky rocketing and we expect a <2 week turn around time. Thanks for the patience as we review securely to help get your plugin live to all chatgpt users.

@coreyching A caption editor is the first plugin I’d want here: play the clip, fix one line, check the timing, export the SRT. Those last few corrections need a proper little workspace.

@coreyching Sidebar and @ mentions are a clean surface. Curious whether the plugin keeps the file context after you jump away and come back.

@coreyching the sidebar launch is interesting. when a plugin workflow spans multiple turns, does the context window include the full conversation history with the plugin, or just the summaries? wondering how this handles long customer support threads where context matters.

@coreyching @coreyching how do i get my plugin to talk with my dot? i have a fun implementation that works very well for my personal use... but does not feel seamless enough for public. Will gladly share if you want to poke holes and/or help guide :D

Been building a sidebar for my ChatGPT plugin since these specs came out. The @ mention is the part I care about most: pulling a specific note into the chat instead of hoping the model searches for the right one. Is there a way to test sidebar entrypoints before a plugin is approved?

@coreyching file viewers get interesting when the file is too structured for a chat bubble. I'd start with sortable tables.

@coreyching plugins in the sidebar, @ mentions, file viewers... chatgpt is one calendar away from becoming slack lmfao

@coreyching Sucks

@coreyching 🐐

@coreyching The ChatGPT sidebar is about to need its own sidebar

@coreyching Sidebar and file viewer support looks useful

@coreyching file viewers inside plugins should save a lot of jumping between tabs

@coreyching I wish plugins could support creating a custom mcp instead of doing developper mode. Sometimes I just wanna create a custom mcp with skills and everything and drive it from chat in my phone. Currently this is not possible. Would be a much better experience than developer mode.

@coreyching My browser tabs are watching this announcement very nervously 😂
