Building design tools in Lovable Introducing our new in-house Connectors tool. Built entirely by one person. Arthur Hilhorst from our team has been working on the new Connectors experience inside Lovable. His latest project is an internal tool that manages all connector icons and logos across the product. Sounds... simple, but is incredibly time consuming when you're dealing with hundreds of connectors. So he built his custom app: A self-serve platform used across the company to manage connector assets, ensure consistency, and keep everything looking crisp in every scenario. The future of design is… engineering. All designers at Vercel now also build, thanks to tools like v0, Claude Code, and Cursor. They've been contributing to our frontends and apps for a while now. But over the past few months, the leap they've made is engineering the design process itself by building agents. A big part of shipping is getting the word out in a compelling way, especially on the X platform, the everything app. In the past, we used to spend a bunch of time hand-crafting images and illustrations for social cards. Our design team built an internal agent and web ui using v0 and Claude Code that makes this process fully self-serve. It even includes a previewer of what the final artifact will look like on X. It's called Leap. It's probably saved us hundreds of hours of work but also massively raised our quality bar. The artifacts it produces are beautiful. If you had asked me even 12 months ago whether our design team would be building their own design tools, let alone be this good, I would call bs. There was no master plan, or God forbid, a "sprint" to make this happen. It just took a handful of prompts to build and it propagated on Slack. Leap is now one of the many agents that helps us run our company more smoothly, built and securely deployed on Vercel for our internal use.

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas on the brutal truth about who actually makes money in AI (and why it's not who you think): Aravind argues that the real value in AI comes from orchestration. He points to products like Codex, Claude Code, and Perplexity Computer: "What is that? It's an orchestration system. It takes a model, pairs it with an agent harness." And what is an agent harness? "The simplest way of describing it is like rules for how the agent loop should run. What are all the skills and sub-agents and connectors and tools it accesses? Without the harness, you don't necessarily capture and convert the intrinsic intelligence in the model into valuable output tokens." This leads to a blunt conclusion about who has a real business in AI, and who doesn't: "If you're literally just a reseller of model tokens, you have no business, because the model will get commoditized. So even if you're a model builder, you don't have a business. As an infra layer, you have some business on serving those output tokens. But as an application layer or model builder, you don't really have a business if you're just a reseller of tokens that come directly out of the model." So where does the value accrue? "You have a business if you know how to take the model, ground it in valuable context, orchestrate it with a really good agent harness, connected to the right set of tools and connectors (whether it's personal connectors or business connectors) and provide the experience to people in one single unified system." Aravind Srinivas then explains Perplexity's specific edge: Beyond orchestrating across tools, files, and connectors, they also orchestrate across models. "That is the differentiation that Anthropic and OpenAI cannot claim, because you wouldn't find GPT-5 inside the Claude Code harness. You wouldn't find Claude Opus inside the Codex harness. These are competing with each other. Whereas you would find both these models inside Perplexity Computer." Why does this matter? Because it all comes down to power. In Aravind's framing, the fundamental cost driver in AI is watts (the one input nobody can subsidize except the government). "Whoever provides the most valuable output tokens with the least amount of power expended to produce them generates the greatest value to the end user, has the most pricing power, has the most value. That is the orchestration problem to solve." His conclusion: "The one single most important metric in AI is token value per watt per user."

The agent was given read-only access to their codebase and database along with connected tools like Intercom, Stripe, CRM, and Fathom through CLIs. They routed Slack, email, and support requests into a task queue so the agent could pick up each task and run it in Claude Code. So when a customer asked about billing or product behavior, it could inspect how the business actually worked. Along with these tools, a coding agent was also provided. When the ops agent found a repeated task it could not do yet, the coding agent built a tool for it. That tool became permanent. Over time, this grew to 45+ internal tools. The agent also had an instruction.md where it stored the co-founder's feedback to avoid repeating its mistakes.

On the one hand, it significantly accelerates many newsroom processes, from interview transcription and video editing to translation and event planning. On the other hand, it has never been easier to fall victim to fake images and manipulated footage, particularly in a 24-hour news environment. Today, these tools are accessible to almost everyone, giving them the ability to influence narratives far beyond their place of origin. We have been working with artificial intelligence technologies for several years. Initially, we used Western models, but we are actively developing our own. Our team enjoys experimenting with these tools. For example, we created a project in which President Putin delivers his famous speeches, including the Munich speech, in English using his own AI-generated voice. The result is remarkably difficult to distinguish from the original.
