Brian on why pure people managers won't survive AI: "I don't think people that only manage people will have any value in the future. Everyone's going to have to be a hybrid people manager or manager IC. In other words, even the managers need to code. You can't just be these managers where you're people's therapists and you're just doing meetings, just one-on-ones. People who have lots of recurring one-on-ones are not going to survive. That kind of leadership style is not gonna work. You need to have context. I hear about heads of design, they don't actually manage the design. Johnny Ive manages the design. He designs and he leads people. A design leader who only manages the people that's crazy to me. The way Frank Lloyd managed his design team is through the work. You don't manage the people, you manage the work. I think a lot of people will survive this age of AI. The two types of people that will not survive are pure people managers, and people that are rigid and don't want to change and evolve."

Last month, I shared a post on LinkedIn about my passion for helping young designers improve their skills and scale their careers. Since Saturdays are my only free time, I launched a YouTube channel to release tutorials weekly, focusing on practical tips and tricks for real growth in UX and UI design. Tutorial link: One highlight of this journey was a recent prototype I created in Figma . After sharing the tutorial, a designer who followed along replicated the design, posted it on X, and landed their first million-naira design contract. Moments like these drive me to keep sharing my work on LinkedIn and X to inspire more young designers. Now, I’m bringing this effort to X I’ll be hosting a Space this Saturday to answer questions on everything from interactive designs in Figma to UX strategies that truly stand out. The single most important thing in a game is design. You can have the best story, music, art and have a game that is technically amazing and runs at a perfect 120FPS without a dip however if the design of a game is flawed it brings the whole game down. Barely any reviews I have watched of Metroid Prime 4 have spoken specifically about its level design (most reviewers dont talk about level design at all in any games.) Prime 4's level design consists of basically elevators, hallways and a big empty desert which don't interconnect at all. Increasingly I am seeing more and more in AAA games, an emphasis on story, art and engineering at the expense of design when design should be the first thing that is nailed! Mike Wikan the Senior Designer On The Metroid Prime Trilogy (he wasnt around on Prime 4) makes a good point here.

Democrats are the ones who set these subsidies to expire, not Republicans. And they should expire. I’ll be holding a hearing on Thursday assessing the damage Obamacare has inflicted on Americans.
