Burnham has advocated for decentralising power from Westminster to “the regions”. But Wales isn’t a region, we’re a country. Plaid Cymru will ensure Wales is treated with fairness and respect, and continue to fight for powers over rail, Crown Estate and justice and policing.

People in Wales Know Wales is a country. People in Scotland Know Scotland is a country. The ukgov treats those countries as if they are regions or areas equivalent to an English county. This is at the heart of the tension between Senedd, Holyrood & Westminster.

Sovereignty perspective. Wales was a sovereign nation with its own laws, princes & language before English conquest. The 1535–42 Acts of Union incorporated it after military defeat, hardly a voluntary union of equals. The modern UK is a political union of nations, not an eternal prison. Sovereignty ultimately rests with the people. Scotland got a referendum; Wales deserves the same democratic choice. Surely it depends what he decentralises if its stuff the senedd isn’t responsible for then they go direct to those that are responsible? If the senedd is responsible would go there but be ring fenced. Not sure what the problem is ?
