They opposed the Bill the last time, I hope they will oppose the Bill this time too. On paper it looks like everybody is getting an equal percentage of increase, in Parliamentary democracy absolute numbers matter. At the moment, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have 40 seats. Uttar Pradesh has 80 seats. So, the delta between Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Uttar Pradesh is 40. But if you increase the seats by 50%, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will go up to 60 and Uttar Pradesh will go to 120. So, the delta will become 60. So, absolute numbers matter in politics. It is not just percentages because in order to catch up with the north of India, there will be a far greater number for the southern states to do. The southern states have reduced population and have contributed more to tax but their number of Parliamentarians in the Lok Sabha will be deminished. Further, with 543 members in the House, we hardly get any time to speak. With 815, we will get less time to speak. The Speaker doesn't know the names of all of us and he will hardly know the name of extra 300 people who will come. So, the House will just become a stamping House like China...A larger Parliament will be an ineffective Parliament..."

The Women's Reservation Bill is actually a Purush Bachao Yojna through which Parliament will be converted into a Family Club! If the government is serious about Women Reservation, give the Women 33% Reservation from the exsisting 543 MPs, why Delimitation! Even the 50% increase in seats for all states is a serious disadvantage to Southern States. Let me explain : Parliament runs on absolute numbers not percentage, so a 50% increase in seats for UP is 80+40 = 120 A 50% increase for Tamil Nadu is 39+20= 59! Today the difference in MPs between UP & TN is 80-39= 41, after Delimitation it will become 120-59= 61!

What the government is proposing now has nothing to do with women’s reservation. This amendment is an attempted power grab using delimitation and gerrymandering. We will not allow ‘Hissa Chori’ from OBC, Dalit and Adivasi communities by ignoring the caste census data. We will also not allow Southern, North Eastern, North Western and smaller states to be treated unfairly.

There was no need for this Bill to be linked with the delimitation exercise. Knowing fully well that if 2011's census or latest census becomes the basis for delimitation, southern India will lose out heavily. Modi Govt introduced this Bill, which they knew very well, will not be able to get the 2/3rd majority that is required for a Constitutional amendment. Therefore, we as BRS, certainly express our deep concern and deep protest with respect to stifling the voice of southern India in the Parliament. We request and demand the Union Govt to fulfill the promise given to the women of this country because the Bill was already passed in 2023 with respect to women's reservation. If you have to do it, you can do with the 543 at present. All that we would like to tell you is make sure that the 24% seats that the south of India today has in the Parliament is kept intact. If that is not kept intact, this will lead to severe protest and resentment from the people of south India who have contributed to this nation in a big way..."
