FALL FROM CLIFF This afternoon, CAL FIRE CZU was dispatched to a beach in Davenport after a person fell an estimated 30 feet down a cliff. CAL FIRE SCU Alma Helitack Copter 604 was dispatched and Truck 3170 from Santa Cruz Fire Department was also requested for a rope rescue as a secondary plan. However, Copter 604 skillfully landed on the beach next to the patient, which made for a quick extrication. The patient was lifted to the next awaiting helicopter, Stanford Life Flight, then flown to a Bay Area trauma center in moderate but stable condition. Cooperating agencies included American Medical Response, Stanford Life Flight, Santa Cruz County Fire, CA State Parks of Santa Cruz and California Department of Fish and Wildlife. SAFETY MESSAGE: The cliffs are unstable and unsuitable for climbing, even on some trails. Santa Cruz County

I’ve been told crews including Dalton Hotshots got the call along with aircraft, but winds have caused the helicopters to be grounded for the time being. The fire is 50+ acres and growing, with 1/2 mile spotting. Multiple tankers ordered. Evacuations have begun near Soledad Canyon Road and south to Arrastre Canyon Road. The main goal right now is to keep the fire from jumping SR40. This thing could rip into the Hurst fire in no time. It’s California using its own state tax dollars to expand Medi-Cal to undocumented residents. Federal Medicaid dollars have never funded that. And the BBB didn’t (and couldn’t) eliminate it. Federal law is crystal clear: undocumented immigrants are not eligible for full Medicaid. The only exception is Emergency Medicaid (life-threatening emergencies + childbirth), which hospitals must provide by law. That’s been the rule for decades. So much for the environmentalists in California - California already has roughly 321 days centers - At least 280 of those were built of expanded post-2022 - There are at least 54 more data centers currently planned in California - Combined all the current data centers use the equivalent of roughly 1,000,000 average US homes - The newly planned data centers will use the equivalent of 1 million more homes - They currently use about 50+ billion gallons of water per year, potentially rising to 120+ billion gallons by 2028 But yeah… drilling some oil and driving a gas car is the problem….
