With a surplus of $32.7 billion, #Texas has the resources to fully fund our public schools. #Republicans like Dan Patrick and Greg Abbott wish to defund our public schools with a voucher scheme that only benefits a few thousand kids at the expense of millions. We have the resources to pay our teachers well, provide schools with technology, and make sure teachers don’t have to dig into their own pocket to support their students. Schools are underfunded, not under-served. #txlege #TxEd #TogetherWeThrive #TXAFTConvention

As students return to school, our government is providing historic funding and opening a record 41 new and expanded schools this fall. Our goal is clear: to provide students with the opportunity to succeed and grow, and ensure teachers have the resources they need to inspire learning and help students thrive.

French students have blocked schools across the country, demanding more teachers, smaller classes and better-equipped schools. Some protests escalated into clashes with police, while teachers, firefighters and other public workers also demonstrated over funding and resources.

While most schools blindly follow trends, this school proudly celebrated Tulsi Pujan Diwas with its students instead of Christmas. This is real education — rooted in our culture, values, and identity. We need many more such schools and fearless teachers.

**WATCH** While I’m now an MP, I spent 25 years working in our State Schools as a science teacher and a Deputy Headteacher. I’ve seen first-hand the stark reality of funding disparities across our Education System, which is why I rose to speak in the Chamber to argue that removing the charitable status of Private Schools was both necessary and fair. The reality in our state schools is stark. A set of glue sticks or access to a printer have become a luxury, and subjects such as Science, Art, DT, and Music lack the resources to support hands-on learning. School building repairs, SEND Provision, and services for vulnerable children have all suffered. These are realities we should never face, but the leader of every State School faces them every day. The gulf in funding between State and Private schools has become untenable, and we need to understand that removing this exemption will generate £1.5 billion annually to start transforming our state schools. That’s not punishment. It’s fair and responsible. I know what our State Schools can achieve. Let’s let them soar. #Wolverhampton #Willenhall #Education #Justice

Our public schools — especially in rural areas — are underfunded. As Governor, I will work across the aisle to ensure schools and educators have the resources they need for our students to thrive.

The future of Texas public schools is under attack! Soon, we will have a special session on education funding and vouchers—the stakes couldn’t be higher. Our students, our teachers, and our families are being used as political pawns by Greg Abbott and out-of-state billionaires.

We have to know how many illegal immigrants are in our schools, so we know how to allocate resources, so that we know to solve the issues that arise with that. We will continue to move forward to ensure that we are preventing any kind of illegal immigration movement into our state and into our schools.

As a State Senator, I believe one of my responsibilities is to ask difficult questions when taxpayer dollars are being spent and to make sure public schools have the resources they need to educate Kentucky’s children. When a constituent of mine obtained procurement card receipts from Fayette County Public Schools in 2025 through an Open Records Request, they brought concerns about the spending to my attention. I took those concerns seriously and began asking questions about potential waste. Public schools are entrusted with taxpayer dollars, and that trust comes with a responsibility to be transparent and accountable. Questioning spending isn’t an attack on teachers, students, or the hardworking people who serve our schools. In fact, it is one of the ways we protect the resources our students and educators depend on. Fayette County Public Schools can get back on track by putting students first, improving academic outcomes, and making sure every taxpayer dollar is used wisely. I look forward to seeing their progress. I will continue to advocate for transparency, accountability, and responsible spending in all areas of government.

I went on hunger strike to keep our schools open and I became a teacher to help give our students a bright future—I know what it takes to fully fund our public schools. Now we need our partners to help us make sure our schools, teachers, and families have the fully-resourced school communities they deserve.

We have the money to fund our public schools and support our teachers. Its a matter of values. That's why we must tax the billlionaires as Bernie Sanders and I proposed and support Dr. Adam Hamawy.

Violence in schools is never acceptable… period. Every time this government invests in student safety, the NDP has voted NO - that’s over $220M in supports for student safety initiatives that they’ve voted against, that go towards protecting students and teachers in schools. Under the leadership of Premier Ford, it’s our government that will continue to make key investments that help ensure schools are a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow.
