The only irony I see is you accusing Amharas defending themselves from genocide as extremist ethnonationalist while cheering on the ethnonationalist prime minister who just last week gave a speech in Wellega, Oromia accusing Amharas of enslaving and subjugating Oromos for over 100 years and asking Oromos to unite behind him to defeat Amharas.

@USEmbassyAddis The reporting is basically very well articulated. However, the census stated is from TPLF ruling time that they purposefully wanted to create this lie. Rather, if people are allowed to openly identify their ethnicity, no doubt the Amhara holds the largest ethnic citizens.

#Ethiopia: In a joint statement delivered at the United Nations Human Rights Council 55th session (#HRC55) today on the importance of transitional justice and accountability in Ethiopia, a group of 42 countries said "Ethiopia’s victims deserve justice" and called on "credible transitional justice and accountability processes" to ensure "peace and reconciliation.” While welcoming "the continued commitment of the Government of Ethiopia and the #Tigray Interim Regional Administration to consolidate the peace process and implement the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement," the 42 countries said they "remain seriously concerned about on-going violence and human rights violations in the #Amhara and #Oromia regions” and the extension of the State of Emergency in Amhara region. We are grateful for support for Ukraine. We also discussed diplomacy and the need for a full ceasefire — unconditional and lasting for a sufficient period, at least 30 days. The strikes and killings must stop — and only then can a solution be sought through negotiations. We are ready for any format of dialogue. Russia must stop its attacks and end this war.

Reports that #Angola has withdrawn from the inter-Congolese dialogue, citing Kinshasa’s refusal to honor its commitments. If confirmed, Angola would become the second mediator in the #DRC crisis, after Ruto’s #Kenya, to openly state that Kinshasa is to blame for the continuation of the war. Kinshasa rejected dialogue with its armed opposition and has now rejected dialogue with its non-armed opposition as well. It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the extent to which Washington’s support has emboldened the regime to believe it can act without consequences. The US’ failure to hold Kinshasa accountable for violations of the Washington Accords and ceasefire commitments made in Doha and Luanda means that the risk of a major military escalation is increasing, not decreasing.
