This is why palliative care considerations are not an afterthought. Prognostication, symptoms all significant.

The Royal College of Physicians has been through a troubled time over the last few years with financial difficulties, poor decision making, lack of transparency, the ongoing saga of the physician associates, and more recently, the shameful fiasco of the MRCP exams. The NHS is also under considerable stress, and at these critical moments, it needs true and effective leadership at the helm of the Royal Colleges. I support Dr Asif Qasim MA PhD FRCP for the presidency of the college wholeheartedly for a number of reasons. He has not been afraid to call out the college and the wider NHS to improve and make radical changes. There are those that will just keep quiet or indeed keep the status quo, which prevents progression. He has been a champion of medical education and built a successful company, MedShr, connecting 2.5 million doctors globally. He would bring necessary financial astuteness to the college. He has been a strong advocate for residents and IMGs and has always been inclusive. He will undoubtedly be a strong voice for physicians and help reconnect the college with its membership and provide strong representation to government. Voting starts in 3 weeks, and I urge all of my physician colleagues who are able to vote to support him.
