Can more doctors talk like this?

At 65, I was raised on real food. Junk wasn’t as widely available. (Mommy wouldn’t have fed it to us anyway!) Today’s parents and kids need help. 🙏

Hi Calley - doctor here: Your sister is right that the sun makes light energy that plants use to make sugars - aka carbohydrates - which then get fed to animals & people. The issue is this: How do you scale that up to feed 350 million people? 1) You have to grow enough food without deforestation & destroying the soil - and protect it from insects, diseases, drought & weeds. 2) You have to harvest that food which requires labor - either intensive back-breaking manpower or through some mechanical means. 3) You have to deliver that food to a central location without it rotting or being consumed by bugs or rodents along the way. 4) You have to convert it from a grain into an edible product - so for wheat - it needs to be milled into flour (which is processing) before it can be baked into bread (which is also processing). 5) The Millers need to deliver their flour to the Bakers without it getting eaten by bugs or going bad on the way. 6) The Bakers then bake the bread which then needs to be packaged so it doesn’t get moldy or eaten by bugs or rodents. 7) It has to be delivered to the grocery store & hopefully get sold before the shelf life is over. 8) It goes to waste if it expires. 9) For public health reasons you want to make sure that nothing will contaminate it along the way so large populations don’t get food poisoning. 10) If despite all of this processing, people do get sick, you will be sued. So if celebrity doctors- (who live in the city and make enough money to buy “all-organic” and are entirely dependent on the whole above process to access 3 meals per day) - can tell me their strategy for feeding the nation beyond the sunlight, sugar part I’ll be all ears. In the meantime - the medical system has completely collapsed and is the leading cause of bankruptcy in the country. So perhaps MDs shouldn’t be writing prescriptions for how to fix the food system until they get their own house in order.

@CaseyMeansMD @TrueMedPayments @Levels There are actually a lot of doctors talking like this, and have been for quite some time (long before I started functional medicine 10+ years ago) Many are busy with patient care on a daily basis and running their practice-because it requires being outside of the system.
