Fuckin pilot had huge balls riding that out like that.

F-18 computer locks out at 9g's or 27 degress +/- AOA. He had max AOA at the bottom of the loop/impact so not G-LOC. Root cause. Lack of required height/energy combo at top of the loop. If that is the Greek incident believe the lack of altitude at top of the loop was due to a mis-calibrated altimeter.

Maybe if it's no longer air-worthy they can convert it into one of these, a twin F-404 powered dragster.

In a low-altitude loop, you actually have to pull down aggressively at the top to get your nose coming around. He appears to be floating over the top and may have been losing altitude in those critical seconds.

Excessive G at the beginning of the loop and throughout the first part, which resulted in too little height in the back part, and in the second part of the climb, the G was not proportional to that in the first part. The pilot would have been pulled out if he had not pulled the controls excessively in the lower part (too much G), which caused the aircraft to move inertly downward, despite the large wing angle. Conclusion: disproportionate G force in the first part of the loop (too much) with a small radius and disproportionately small G in the second part of the loop with a larger radius and lack of safe flight altitude.

First landing attempt 10/10: resulted in much needed go-around. Second landing 5/10: failed to utilize landing gear, difficult to immediately re-use plane, poor tail first attitude during landing.

It would have worked if the F-18 had attitude thrust vectoring, but sadly it doesn't.

I think the ground hit the plane and damaged it. It happens quite often with american made aircrafts. I hope the guy inside is ok.

I'm not an expert, but as a layman I'm thinking it's because he hit the ground unintentionally?
