Stephen Harper 7 years ago warning about trade reliance on China. Using this same logic we can say that importing 50k Chinese EVs into our market is a shit deal. Which it is. No jobs will be created from importing them. But it’s good for Carneys political career.

The Liberal government’s own surtax order in 2024 that imposed 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs stated exactly that. Min. Joly herself issued that order. Today, I asked her how she reconciles that.
