Candace is talking about people lying here while she herself is lying. She didn’t “very gently” say Charlie was close to converting to Catholicism. Less than a week after his murder, she explicitly said he was “too smart to be Protestant,” deciding to make it all about her and... her conversion to the Catholic faith. One of the last things Charlie said at UVU the day he died was that he was an evangelical.
